Blue Dawn *Spoilers will be in this discussion*

Does anyone else think that the relationship between Gabriel and Rhine was believable? I really thought he was such a bore...

Do you think that Linden and Rhine would've ended back together if he didn't die? Was there relationship one of friendship or romance? I felt there were points in the story that supported both ideas of what their relationship might have been, but I've never been sure. I mean, she was a little too upset after his death that it seemed her emotions went beyond that of friendship, you know?

Liza I think the fact that it could be argued both ways as to who Rhine would end up with is why Linden's death seemed like a cheap plot to ensure that Gabriel and Rhine were "together." I didn't prefer Linden over Gabriel, but I didn't like the way he died either.

Caraline I think that I knew deep down in my heart that for Rhine to fully be with Gabriel, Linden had to be out of the picture.... but I'm devastated about that. I absolutely loved Linden, and Gabriel just couldn't compare to him. I felt that Linden's death was forced, and then because he was dead Rhine could go to Gabriel. And I hate that ending.

Shav I ship Linden and Rhine :D

100% yes

Caraline oh, so I re-read The Seeds of Wither and part of it s called The First Bride (which is from Rose's point of view).
anyway, Rose talks about how she will miss Linden so much when she's dead, but she will wait for him with her arms open. to me, somebody who was devastated by Linden's death, this gives me a little closure because I know that Linden and Rose are finally happy with no worries.
Just in case this helped, for anybody who was sad about Linden. xo

Jennifer I don't think Rhine ever fully wanted to be with Linden. I think they had been over for awhile but this book gave them the chance to discuss it and end it mutually. I think Rhine was surprised that she did indeed grow to care for Linden but I don't think it was the same as Gabriel. I really like Gabriel but since he was barely in he first or last book his character wasn't developed fully. I hated Linden the first book but I was proud that he helped Rhine find her brother AND Gabriel! I was sad to see him die after all even though in the first book I was wishing for Rhine to murder him. He died such a dumb way too. Hitting his head as the plane landed? Didn't they have seat belts?

Marly St.cyr I really hated to ending. I thought it was too rushed. After Linden and Rhine separated, it seemed that she was starting to feel more and more for him. His death really schocked me. Linden's death seemed like a way to make sure Rhine and Gabriel ended up together. And I really don't understand his death. I have no doubt that they would have ended up together. He loved her too much and probably would have waited for Rhine to feel the same. I think the author wrote herself into a corner and had to rush everthing.

Ashley I hated the ending of this series. It went so quickly and through the first two books I thought that Rhine had only developed a strong friendship with Gabriel, though he obviously wanted more. I had hope Rhine would be with Silas actually. I'm so disappointed. :(

Caraline personally i felt rhine would end up with linden and gabriel would end up out of the picture.

however, i felt the relationship at the end between silas and cecily was extremely forced.

Ashley I feel like if she had added a good one hundred pages or so, going more into detail of loving Gabriel and Silas liking Cecily, it would have been much better. The whole book felt too rushed.

I agree!! Linden was the best

Carly I agree that the book was ended to quickly, however I really enjoyed how the ending unfolded! I liked how Cecily actually did something for once, and I liked how they got cured and everything. I also liked that Madame had actually been Rose's mother, completely unexpected!! I was happy Rhine returned to the mansion in this book as I really enjoyed the parts within the mansion in book one. I also liked the inclusion of Vaughn's brother as it gave you more insight on his past.
However, I didn't like how Linden died as it was unbelievable and too quick, I actually didn't even accept what had happened because it made no sense. As well, his poor uncle said "Is everyone alive?" and then he died... that’s not cool! And the poor uncle was heartbroke! I found Linden's death really stupid, he didn't need to die, it didn't do anything for the plot, all it did was break all the Linden Fangirls hearts! And poor Cecily (who I actually like)! She lost Linden and her child... no!
Although I liked the mention of Silas liking Cecily, I don't think that would work. Why would Rhine allow him to date Cecily if she knew there was the chance of him cheating on her as he always did in the past? She wouldn't, case closed. Also, his personality is completely different then the kind Cecily is interested in, so I see no future there. Silas should just continue sleeping around, and Cecily should continue to mourn for a few years until she is ready to move on. But I mean, if Silas and Cecily did end up together I wouldn't completely mind, but in my opinion she just belongs with Linden.
In addition, I wish there had been more about Gabriel and Rhine's relationship as I felt their relationship was more friendship than romance. Rhine even admits to being confused about her feelings. I think she was more romantically involved with Linden then with Gabriel. However, I don't think Rhine liked the polygamy idea, nor the idea of her not originally choosing him. If circumstances had been different and Cecily hadn't been involved, they would have been great together. The way the book was ended left me with no happy feelings about Rhine and Gabriel.
I also didn't understand how Rowan just accepted that Vaughn was dead and was a bad guy and moved on. Like they were close, it seemed to me like Vaughn had become Rowan's new father figure. I think that he would have been a bit more upset than he was in the novel.
Finally, I really thought giving Cecily a miscarriage was unnecessarily cruel to both Cecily, Linden and the reader. They had both already gone through so much that just seemed to awful. So I really hated that part... and when you though Cecily was dead for like 3 pages, I was ready to quit reading.
I loved this series, I like it as much as the Hunger Games, however I feel as though the ending was missing something and as though some decisions made within the book were poor ones. However, saying all this, I still give this series an overall 4 out of 5 and I would definitely recommend it as the story is good and the writing style is amazing.

Sarah Younan Spoiler alert!!!
i love Gabriel and Rhine, but come on! killing Linden was really sad, uncalled for, and unnecessary. and plus that leaves me with SSSOOOO MANY MORE QUESTIONS!!!
-was Rhine still into linden?
-were her and Gabriel gonna last?
-was there gonna be a BIG choice involving Rhine picking the man she loves?!?
And that another thing!! we never find out who she Loves. Gabriel said he loved her, but (sadly) we never herd her say it back, and (again sadly) she mentioned whether she loved Gabe or not.

And another thing. I honestly feel bad for Linden, :(
he lost not only 1, but 4 and almost 5 people he cares about, and 2 babies. This guy is just full of agony, and right when things were about to turn ok, he dies!!!
I feel even more bad for Cecily (yes i said it!) not only has this chick been through hell and back, she has to keep going, now widowed and with a child. Linden was probably the only thing she had good in her life. now hes gone! hasent this chick suffered enough!!!
I haven't had a slap in the face THIS BIG since "Mockingjay" when Prim died. and how ironic, it was in the third book towards the end. what next? Is "Divergent" gonna end with Four dying (GOD FORBID!!)

writing tip #129
-if your gonna kill a character off, do it in the first book and get it over with! instead of letting the audience love the character and grow, just to see them croak!

sorry this is long :(
Lauren DeStefano, i love u and your books. i hope to see more like this!! BIG FAN!!!

Twin4rce I dont see the purpose of Linden dying at all and I dont like Gabriel the book would have had a good plot but somehow it felt something was forced.

Mariana I wasn't satisfied with the ending; there was no closure for me. Even though Linden is dead, I will always ship him and Rhine. Always. Lauren Destefano was just playing with my emotions.
