Hey there, welcome to the Wizard world where magic is only a simple part of life and yet it is all that separates us from the muggles.
Brief History It is nearly 150 years after the Dark Lord Voldemort was defeated and peace was set into motion once more. Harry Potter is long gone and is now in simple History books today studied in History of Magic class. After the defeating of Voldemort, Harry took on the Head of the Auror Dept. in the Ministry. The Ministry for Magic became less corrupt and more delegated by the voice of the people.
Those who served under the Dark lord were all banished to Azkaban prison. The dementor's now under control of the Ministry once more still guard the prison fortress.
Centaurs were given their old lands to roam freely without Ministry restrictions. Giants still living in the north were given more rights to harvest their own villages and create schools and currency allowing them the knowledge the wizards have and permitting them access as civilized beings to roam as freely as they please.
Werewolf registration has gone through the roof, but werewolves who are registered now have more chances at finding jobs than before.
House Elves now have rights able to choose whom they work for and are payed regularly at minimum wage.
And all those discovered to be an animagus have become registered and respected citizens.
People of the Wizard World This is a list of characters available to be created. Note that familiar names may be used, but not very well known ones{eg.} Potter-NO, Malfoy-NO, Greengrass-Yes, Black-NO, Clearwater-Yes, etc....just ask if you are unsure.
You can choose between many different character types: students and professors are the main two. There are separate application forms for each type. You can create as many characters as you want, but don't make so many that you can't handle them all.
Student: If you choose the Student type, there are some rules. You CANNOT use any of the names from the series - we don't want another Hermione, Harry, Draco, or Tonks. We also have decided that we will allow a limited amount of characters to have additional magical powers mentioned in the series, like being able to speak Parseltongue, or being an Animagus (you would have to add a history of how he/she did this, though) or maybe even a Metamorphagus (like Tonks and her son) but you will be REQUIRED to ask for permission from the mods first (Me so far...Jacob). When making a character feel free to add their thoughts on what House they prefer. But note that the Mod's choose based upon personality who goes where. The mods will then consider, based on their application and personality as shown in their posts, what House they should join.
When your character is in the fifth year, the professors and headmaster/headmistress will discuss what two students (boy and girl) from each House deserve the place of prefects. Prefects will be able to choose curfews and will be required to, at the beginning of the year, RP them leading the students to the common room. The Prefects in fifth year would continue to be a prefect into sixth and seventh year. Thus, there are approximately six prefects per house, and twenty-four prefects in the whole school at one time. The Head Boy and Head Girl may be chosen from among this number and may not be replaced, but, like with James Potter, the Head Boy or Girl does not have to be a prefect.
A Head Boy or Head Girl is a seventh year student who has authority over Prefects at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Each year, both a Head Boy and a Head Girl are selected by the current Headmaster of Hogwarts. The pair of students are instructed to do duties to assist the school. They lead both the prefects and, in many cases, the entire student body. At the beginning of the school year, the Headmaster appoints new prefects, as well as one Head Boy and one Head Girl from all of the seventh year students. These students are chosen because of their academic achievement, outstanding reputation as a student, and an honest, good, and hard-working personality. It should be noted that being a prefect is not a prerequisite to being appointed a Head Boy or Head Girl.
Professor: There will be a Professor for each subject (refer to the books if you don't remember all of the subjects) and they will have to regularly RP their teaching. Also, you can have the choice of being a Head of House (the House must reflect their personality, though) Also, note that to be a professor one must be active and hold the responsibility as something to take great pride in but hold good judgement. Also note that when making a professor one must ensure that the professor is not apart of anyone from the books a whole new staff collection.
Order of the Phoenix/Hogwarts Defenders: In honor of the late Professor Albus Dumbledore and Professor Minerva McGonagall, this group is an extension apart from the power of the Ministry for Magic who are an organized group of people all over the wizarding world who patrol the darkness of things to ensure Dark Wizards are kept at bay and Hogwarts or any other school is well protected should anything of the such occur. Anyone can be apart of this group for as long as they can be trusted and pass through a series of test. Professors make up the local group of the OP.
Staff Members: The staff at Hogwarts include positions such as Librarian, Groundkeeper, Caretaker, etc...
House Elf: Mostly open for people to regularly rp except characters who have been made. House elves are everywhere being given the rights they deserve. Many and most work at Hogwarts. names: http://ca.answers.yahoo.com/question/...
Shadow Walker: Much like and very similar to the Death Eaters who followed Lord Voldemort. These Dark wizards are just as cruel and darkened by evil and black magics. They follow the Dark Trinity.
Dark Trinity: Three Witches/Wizards who are combining forces to recreate Lord Voldemort's idea of a perfect world. Nothing but suffering falls behind them each different with their own supporters and stories. These three are the new Dark lords of the world.
Ministry Employee: These are the people working in different dept. within the Ministry. They have their own homes and families and lives to attend outside of work as well as ensuring they get to their job on time.
Goblin: All goblins are found working in Gringotts Wizard Bank.
Gringotts Security Wizard: This is the security worker of Gringotts Bank.
Regular Hogsmede Worker/Diagon or Knockturn Alley Workers: These people own stores and work in them within Diagon Alley and Hogsmede Village.
Basic Wizard's and Witches: These are the families already out and about in life with kids to worry about or younger siblings. These are the ones without normal mentioned jobs.
Ghost:Your ghost can represent a House if you wish, or be a poltergeist. It's all your choice.
