Pressure Head by J L Merrow

Tom Paretski, plumber by trade, is assisting the police with their enquiries. Not as a suspect in the disappearance of a young woman but with his somewhat inconvenient skills as a pyschic. the case is complicated by the presence of PI Phil Morrison, once Tom's school boy crush but also a homophobic bully.
JL's work always cheers me. It's written with such a light touch and a leavening of humour. Yes, there's some sex in it - a few pages I'd rate as 4 - but there's so much else to the story. Cracking stuff and I've heard that there will be a sequel too.

Fatal Shadows by Josh Lanyon, #1 in the Adrien English series.

Blurb: Someone's out to get Los Angeles bookseller Adrien English. His best friend has been viciously murdered, now he's getting weird phone calls and sinister gifts from a mysterious "admirer". The cops think he's trying to divert suspicion from himself—with the exception of sexy and homophobic homicide detective Jake Riordan.
Is Riordan really such a great detective—or does he have a few secrets of his own? Is his offer to help Adrien on the level or is he out to nail his favorite suspect—to the wall?
Superb murder mystery with a fraught and vulnerable narrator torn between potential love interests. Single climactic sex scene, necessarily explicit. Brilliant start to an edgy and satisfying series.
#2 A Dangerous Thing
#3 The Hell You Say
#4 Death of a Pirate King
#5 The Dark Tide

Without giving anything away, this is a terrific tale of vigilante-style revenge.

As Elin said, it was a good review. I have it on my TBR list because of your review. Some vigilante style revenge sounds good, lol.
