Hi Guys!
If you've got any suggestions for where you want the group to go - new discussions, group readings, anything else like that... post your suggestions here!

message 2: by Jaq (new)

Jaq | 281 comments How about a discussion on who would play Owen and Giles if the first three books were made into either a television series or a movie trilogy???

message 3: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca May | 488 comments Mod
Oooh, I've done something similar to that on another group! Great suggestion. :) If you think people would be on board, I can put up a topic towards discussing actors, and creating a cast list for if Deathstalker was ever made into a movie. :) Sound good?

message 4: by Jaq (new)

Jaq | 281 comments I love it Becca....let's do it...because the world is our oyster in picking who would be great for each of the characters - plus will get some action going on the discussion boards.....

Now I'm going to have to think of some folks....

Awesome! I'll set up the thread as soon as I can get on my laptop. :)

Trust me, trying to agree on actors is SO much fun - in my other group, we've done a bit over a thousand posts (there were three of us participating, four recently) and come up with sixty five actors. :) Though I'm still stingy about having Richard Armitage replaced. :D

Anyways, I'll set that up ASAP. :)

Okey doke, Jaq, that topic has been set up in the "Fun and Games" folder, all ready to go!

There are also some other fun things in that folder too, if you were ever bored and wanted to check them out. :)

message 7: by Jaq (new)

Jaq | 281 comments Now here's a question - what accent does Owen and Giles have? I always have them as British....

message 8: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca May | 488 comments Mod
I have no idea! :D But yes, I think British would be best. :)

message 9: by Danny (new)

Danny Silva | 55 comments Quick question. I can't seem to recall where did the maze come from and who build it?

message 10: by Chris (new)

Chris Marcus | 180 comments I don't think we ever know who built it, it's recorded as unknown origin.

message 11: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca May | 488 comments Mod
*eh-hem* (spoiler alert) The answer to your question is that Owen went WAY back in time and built it - or rather, gave some alien thingies instructions on how and where to build it.

message 12: by Chris (new)

Chris Marcus | 180 comments Ok ok I bow to your superior knowledge Becca! Yes you're quite right Owen did create it, but we don't know why or when. At least, I don't. Becca?

message 13: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca May | 488 comments Mod
Haha, thanks Chris. :D I don't know the exact time he went back to to create it, except that it was, like, super far back. Anyway, he met some aliens he recognised to be the same species as Vaughn, the species who he knew had built the Maze. So he had a little time travellers epiphany and was like: ":O I built the Maze? I did! Oh snap. Well, better get cracking then." :D So yeah. :)
And the fact that he built the Maze was the reason that Deathstalkers had such good luck going through it. :)

message 14: by Danny (new)

Danny Silva | 55 comments Ok glad you brought that up cuz that's basically what I remembered, but the thing is Owen was able to go back in time and build it because he went through it in the first place. He also said he build it out of memory. So I guess what I'm saying is that there must of been an original maze which made all that possible...

message 15: by Chris (new)

Chris Marcus | 180 comments No. You're getting confused with time travel issues. It existed because he built it. He built it because he went through it. This giving him the ability to travel back in time and build it. One and the same. Circular time not linear time.

message 16: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca May | 488 comments Mod
Well explained Chris. :)
Don't worry Danny, it screws with my mind too. I prefer just to accept that Owen built the Maze, go with Chris' Circle Theory, and then stop thinking about it before my head explodes. :D

message 17: by Chris (new)

Chris Marcus | 180 comments People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but *actually* from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint - it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly... time-y wimey... stuff.

message 18: by Danny (new)

Danny Silva | 55 comments Thanks Chris u gave me a nose bleed

message 19: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca May | 488 comments Mod
ROFLMAO.

message 20: by Chris (new)

Chris Marcus | 180 comments Haha cool. Glad to be of assistance!
And bonus points to whomever can tell me the origin of that quote (no cheating!)

message 21: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca May | 488 comments Mod
Doctor Who. :P

I don't watch it myself, but I've got a friend who loves that quote. :)

message 22: by Chris (new)

Chris Marcus | 180 comments Yup. One of my favourite episodes. Blink, the first appearance of the weeping angels

message 23: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca May | 488 comments Mod
:D I've heard they're pretty scary. I didn't watch DW for years, then tried to watch it again, and unfortunately caught the Shadows in the Library episode. That scared the crap out of me, and I slept with my door open for two weeks afterward. :D Then my nine year old cousin who loved that episode caught wind of it, and she's been teasing me about it ever since. *facepalm*

message 24: by Danny (new)

Danny Silva | 55 comments So the place that the blood runners kept hazel that's no where in time really was created by her?

message 25: by Chris (new)

Chris Marcus | 180 comments Not by Beccas nine year old cousin no!
But yes it was created by Hazel herself as a point outside the universe and space time

message 26: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca May | 488 comments Mod
:D My cousins so cheeky, but she's cute, so it's okay. :P

Yup, Chris, that sounds about right. That did always strike me as vaguely sad, not to mention ironic.

message 27: by Jaq (new)

Jaq | 281 comments It's vaguely sad.....

Jaq wrote: "It's vaguely sad....."

:D Yup. The only other thing that bothers me is the thousands of people that the Maze killed - and then you find out that's all down to how Owen created it? I mean, I understand it had to be made, but couldn't he have been a little, well, nicer? I mean, if the Maze wasn't so harsh Alicia wouldn't have fragmented into those powerful esper freaks...

message 29: by Chris (new)

Chris Marcus | 180 comments But just imagine the chaos that could have ensued had there been scores of maze enhanced people running about.
Just take Finn for example - he was a nasty petty minded spoilt fiend of a man. Imagine him with Owens powers!

True, too true... I'm just saying though, like, instead of screwing their minds up or killing them, couldn't the Maze have just very nicely shown them the glowing "EXIT" sign?

Finn with Owen's powers... *shudders*

message 31: by Danny (new)

Danny Silva | 55 comments Well I don't think the maze necessarily picks people who are good but people who can transcend into something more. So the fact that it either made u or destroyed u was a pretty cool concept. If it was that easy people would just be standing in line to get their chance at the sword in the stone.

message 32: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca May | 488 comments Mod
All valid points of course... I just still can't help feeling it was a teensy bit harsh.
But I suppose you're right. :)

message 33: by Danny (new)

Danny Silva | 55 comments Well the deathstalker series is def not rainbows and butterflies.

LOL. You win. :D

Jaq | 281 comments Unless the rainbows are made from acid rain, and the butterflies are the size of 747's and have very large pointy teeth and a thirst for humanity.....

Now that is thinking like a true Deathstalker fan. Anyone up for a Deathstalker sequel called Deathstalker Butterflies? By Jaq's description, I'm totally up for it...

message 37: by Jaq (new)

Jaq | 281 comments That made me laugh - I'd love to read it too!

message 38: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca May | 488 comments Mod
Awesome! :D LOL.

Wonder what the cast list would be like for that sequel... :P

message 39: by Jaq (new)

Jaq | 281 comments Okay here's another suggestion for a topic - I know, but I've been resting for a while thinking, hmmm.....what would be good...

As it's the season of silliness - how about suggesting Xmas presents for the Deathstalker characters? Like what would you buy for Lionstone? Apart from a large death dealing robot army????

Wow, that's an awesome idea! *goes to post topic*

message 41: by Jaq (new)

Jaq | 281 comments I know - because I was thinking there are oodles of funny things you could end up giving them.....

message 42: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca May | 488 comments Mod
:D Well thank you for suggesting it.

message 43: by Jaq (new)

Jaq | 281 comments Well I was lying around for a long time, and had to pass the time dreaming up things to do when I could...haahahahah

:)

Have you seen my latest contribution of suggestions to our cast list for the Deathstalker series?

message 45: by Jaq (new)

Jaq | 281 comments I'm heading there now.....can't wait!

message 46: by Jaq (new)

Jaq | 281 comments Okay not sure if this has been done - but maybe we could have a topic based on - so you like Deathstalker - what else can you suggest to read - that's similar space operaish - and over the top fantastic....????

message 47: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca May | 488 comments Mod
That's quite a good idea, I don't think I've done that yet. :) I'll add it as soon as I can.

message 48: by Jaq (new)

Jaq | 281 comments I'm always looking for new books to add to my list....and I love to find something on the same level as Deathstalker.....

message 49: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca May | 488 comments Mod
Well, I've added the topic now. :)
