Kav glanced at his watched as he moved down the line. Almost noon. Biting his lip, he wished that things would hurry along.
Kav collected his try and stuffed the roll in his mouth. Just as he turned to go, he bumped into another girl and spilled his beans onto her shirt.
Kav hastily put down his try and tried to catch up with the girl. "Oh gosh. I'm so sorry. Are you okay? Here, I have a napkin." Fingers fumbling, he tried to find it but couldn't.
Kav tried not to look at his watch as the napkin fell from his hand. "Okay then," he said quietly, turning to go.
"Well . . ." he hesitated, shifting uncomfortably. How had this conversation gone south so quickly? "No, not really. Have you?"
Lexie walked around the cafe looking for someone to talk to. Just because she was always alone didn't mean he was happy about it.
((yes! ate dinner in record time! :P))He thought about smiling, but then decided that she was serious. "Five years," he said truthfully. The year before the uprisings began in earnest. The year he'd begun to doubt his guardian's sanity.
He laughed bitterly at the irony of her words. If only she knew what a lie she'd just spoken. "You know what? It doesn't matter anymore. I'm late for something anyways." He looked at his watch, then added hesitantly. "I'm Kav, by the way."
He gave her a wry smile. Just then the alarms began to blare, and he startled. An Invasion Drill. Everybody was supposed to report to thier barracks. Crap, he thought. "Okay. I'll see you around," he said quickly. Then instead of heading back into the halls, Kav headed in the opposite direction-- towards the outside gates.
Kav twisted around and happened to see Wanderer close behind him. What in the world? How was he supposed to sneak out of the compound with her watching his every move? Hoping he didn't seem too obvious, he suddenly switched directions. Maybe he could escape through the southern gates.
"What? I'm not--!" Had she assumed that he was going out to fight? Oh god. That was so not what he'd planned on doing.
"No! Of course not!" he said indignantly. He could't tell her why he wouldn't fight. Why he'd never raise a weapon to a bloodsucker--and why a bloodsucker would never dare to touch him.
He had no choice but to follow. What else could he do? "Where are we going?" he asked, trying to keep up, and trying to ignore that foreboding feeling in his stomach.
He matched her pace as she led him down a complicated maze of hallways. "What kinds of weapons are we supposed to get?"
Kav looked around, but there was no escape. He'd have to bear arms against the enemy or risk explaining his reluctance to Wanderer. "Are you sure about this?"
"I could probably figure it out. How hard could it be?" He murmured, trying to look past her shoulder. All he could see was a tiny, darkened space.
He blinked. "Hello?" Kav stuck his head through the small opening but saw nothing but blackness, not even a silhouette. The silence enveloped him. "Wanderer?"
He grasped the outline of her outstretched palm, blinking the darkness out of his eyes. "What is this place?"
"I see," he said. She shouldn't live here. It was against the rules. Kav smiled-- maybe she wasn't so bad after all.
He smirked. "Are we just going to feel around until we bump into everything or is there a lightswitch somewhere?"
Hayley walks into the dinning hall to get some food. Shes pretty hungry after a long day of training. She gets in line and grabs a tray.
Nate strolled inside the dining hall, greeting some people randomly before he fell in line behind a girl. With a soft sigh, he grabbed his own tray, eyeing the portion of food he was going to get -- wishing he was able to have some more than what they gave.
Hayley shuffled along with the line. She just hated it here and she couldnt wait to get out of here and kill some vamps.
Lexie got in line behind a boy and rolled her eyes at the amount of food they give you. 'how do they expect me to kill vampires on an empty stomach' she thought sighing.
After Hayley got her food she went and sat down at a table by herself. Being the "new kid" here kinda sucked. And having a dad that was high up in command didnt help either.
Lexie got her food and say down with the new kid. "hey I'm Lexie. Who are you?" she said taking a drink of her water.
She smiled at her. "ehh it's hard being new in this kind of place." she said referring to when she was new a few moths back.
Lexie started eating some food. "just turned 18 yesterday actually" she said with a sort of sad tone in her voice. She missed her family but she knew her father would tell her to just move one and live her life.
