I've recently completed self-publishing via CreateSpace for the paperback, KDP for the Kindle. I'm also creating an audiobook via ACX.com for release soon on Audible.com and looking into the Nook/Barnes & Noble thing. I'd be happy to answer any questions, if I can..Yesterday: A Novel of Reincarnation
J. wrote: "How are you doing the audiobook? Did you hire someone to do the voiceover?"I submitted the first chapter as a sample to voices.com. From that submission I got over 150 readers responding with a read. The prices are all over the board, as is the experience of the applicant. Prices ranged from $600 to over $20,000 for reading the entire novel. The book is being read by a woman named Darlene Allen, she's done a terrific job and has some other recordings available on Amazon. The reason I chose her is twofold, one she's only about 50 miles from where I live, and applicants are from all over the world. Two, this is her first novel (it's my first novel). So, we're learning together. You can also find a narrator via ACX.com (they are owned by Amazon.) You can also do the voiceover yourself, if you have the right equipment.

Thanks. I'll check out voices.com. I've posted on ACX.com but to date, no responses. I've also tried reading myself. Having done commercial voice over ten years ago, I figured I could do it but the editing just about drove me crazy. Let me know how yours turns out. :)
I found that Authonomy.com was a great way to get some reviewer's comments from other authors to use on the back cover of my book. Since it's virtually impossible to get a professional reviewer to look at a self published book, I thought it added a bit of credibility to be able to list reviews that were credited to other authors. For instance, one of the comments I used was "A brilliantly crafted tale..." — A.G. Chaudhuri, author of Shining Dawn. That just looks better in my opinion than a review from your Great Aunt Martha.
I'm lucky to have a tech-genius friend who thinks that making new book covers is fun.I'm also lucky that when we decided to include a map of the world on the cover for my upcoming release, he asked in an email, "Have you seen the Waterman Butterfly?"
"Nope," I replied.
He reached into his keyboard and through the cables of the internet just to crash his fist through my monitor and slap me a few times. "Check it out!" he ordered.
I checked it out. I fell in love. I wrote to the man who made the map (Steve Waterman) and, a few weeks later, I had his permission to use his gorgeous map on my cover.
I finally get to unveil it this week:

I love you Ana! I have been searching all morning to get my book onto IndieBound and you made it all possible. Your information is so helpful. Thank you!
Yes but you simplified it! I had registered with Bowkers MyIdentifier but it wasn't showing up at IndieBound. Just filled out the application and I'm on my way. I really like the idea of promoting my book through independent bookstores rather than Amazon. When you consider 75% of sales are still paperback, it is most important to get your book to independent stores. And many offer local campaigns.enjoy your Sunday,
