Wild Things: YA Grown-Up discussion

So I just finished this book and - don't shoot me! - I didn't like it very much. Let it be said that I am not a fan of verbose or "flowery" writing (as my husband calls it!)
This book was so fairylandish that I just couldn't buy it. Inanimate objects with feelings and nonsensical reasoning... just not for me.
Also, I listened to this book as an audiobook, and did not care for the narrator's voice at all. Sadly, it is the author who narrated. Maybe if I'd read it as a physical book I would've enjoyed it more, but I couldn't wait to finish it.

I'm trying to listen to the story, also. I'm not really making a connection. I think I can finish the book, but not loving it.
