i want to watch it but i haven't gotten around to it yetbut it looks kind of cute (well as cute as a bloody vampire movie could be)
Cute isn't really the word, although it does have its moments. It is gritty, disturbing, and touching ... everything I endeavor toward in my own vampire stories. I bought the DVD, and I highly recommend it to all fans of the genre.

The book is translated into English as far as I know of, the copy I saw in at the store had the Swedish author and also the name of the translator.
I have not read the book yet, but I want to, it is added on my quickly growing BTR pile. So, the movie is good I want to see it also?

Awesome movie! The choice of actors I liked, especially Eli, the vampire. This is a special movie not your typical horror. If you google it, it's being talked about as the best vampire movie made. I've watched it three times on Netflix. There is an American made version, but the Swedish is the one to watch.
I haven't yet seen the American remake (I suppose I'm just afraid it doesn't do justice to the original). Does anyone know if it is any good? I own the Swedish version--a must-have IMHO for any personal library of a due-hard horror fan.
Lisa, stick with the Swedish version. I can't imagine a remake could be better. The only outcome would be an inferior copy. You sound like a horror fan. The ultimate movie is "Martyrs," French, gruesome, intense. You'll want it to end but you wont walk away from it. Martyrs has raised the bar to a new level, beyond, Saw, beyond Hostel. This movie will scar you're soul...
Oh, I loved the subtitled version. I don't want to see the American remake. The previews looked bad, in my opinion. Stick with the foreign version!
I agree Mary. I didn't bother with the remake. The Swedish version is the one! On so many levels it's a great movie. The cast, cinematography, capturing the feeling of cold, winter, bleak. Its become one of my favorite movies.Martyrs on the other hand is serious. Love this for different reasons. I admire a cast and director that can pull with your emotions.
Have you seen Martyrs?

Thoughts? I thought the movie was phenomenal.
