Wow that's great, thanks for that, I have made a note of them all, have you read all of these? They will keep me going, lol.
So what are the Holly Barker ones about? Is she a Lawyer as well?
holly barker is cheif of police in florida. Stone is based in ny but these mesh together in i believe its 4 books but if you read all in order you will get it.
I am up to shoot him if he runs on stuart and iron orchid on holly trying to figuire out where to start. Umm he has 3 other charaters in series as well but i have not read them. i own some just havent gotten around to it.

Hey, where are all the Stuart Woods fans? I just found Stone Barrington and Holly Barker last year and I fell in love with them.
I know right. I find him one of my top fav authors and i started this group but nobody latched on. What are you up to in the series. I need to get back into him. I think i am still about 5 books behind.
I have finished Strategic Moves which I believe is the latest one out for Stone Barrington. I am now waiting for Bel-Air Dead to come out, it is still on order at my library. I have read all of the Holly Barker series and most of the Will Lee. I have also read a lot of his stand alones. I really enjoy reading Stuart Woods.
I read these books all out of order based on what was available in the library and it really didn't affect the story. Certain characters jump back and forth and there are a few things that are given away as far as his relationship lengths and rotation. But you sort of know that is going to happen throught the series by the time you finish your third book no matter which three they are.Great series though, easy read and I suggest you get 2 or 3 before you start the first one because by day three you will be ready for the next one.

I started reading Stuart Woods because I was looking for a series and I had just stumbled upon his books at the library. I like to listen to audiobooks as well and they had a lot of his at my library. Like you said when I read my first Stone Barrington book I read the rest very quickly.
Yes i agree u dont as they normally one case per book but i am stickler for reading in order. Thanks guys for joining in. I think i am going to go home tonight and start one of his.
Hey,How are you guys coming with your Stone Barrington reads. I am STILL waiting for Bel-Air Dead to come out. I am really missing him.
Well as i said i was going to run home and start i realized i had 3 other unfinished books so i am going to try to knock them out this week and start back on stuart after that. I have to see which i am up to. I think the last one i read was shoot him if he runs. i am way behind as you can see but i own them all so it should be a quick catch up.
well I hope you guys are happy, I decided to go look for other Woods series's and I am now sucked into the Will Lee series. :)
I just finished Captial Crimes. I love how Teddy Faye and Carpenter are both in it, great cross usage of characters.
i have started that series like 5 times and never got past a few chapters in the first one. Maybe now that i have people to discuss it with ill try again.
Hey Guys - are any of you reading Bel-Air Dead? I am about half way through it and it is delightful. Another one of Wood's typical Stone novels. I feel at home and very comfortable reading Stone.

Me too I am now halfway thru Loitering with Intent only one week later. God i love Stuart Woods. What is everyone else reading these days?
It's pretty good, Dresden is like a supernatural detective. I have only read the first book in the series but I couldn't put it down.
Actually Dawn, Woods has a new Barrington book out that I haven't read yet, Son of Stone. I have had to reserve it from my library.
Yes I know hopefully by time i am upto it i will catch a sale or swap it on a trade site. Thanks i am going to Dresden on my list.
Hey! Big Stuart Woods fan.Love love love Stone Barrintgon!!! Have all the books on my Nook. Finished the whole Stone Barrington Series in a few months. Even fisnished Son of Stone....can't wait for another!!Have not tried to read any Holly books yet.
Hey Jessica!Stone is great isn't he! I have yet to read Son of Stone. I have been waiting for it at the library but apparently there is a waiting list.
Holly is great as well. I have read all of hers and I would read them again and again. I really love Stuart Woods!
Just finished Son of Stone and I was very disappointed. I didn't like it at all. Has anyone else read this one?
I read Son of Stone earlier in the month and I loved it. I can understand why you didn't because it was not a deep story, but I liked it because it set up for future books with Barrington JR.
I AM STILL ON KISSER. I HAVE A FEW TO GO BUT WILL LET YOU ALL KNOW WHAT I THINK AS I FINISH THEM.
I have enjoyed every one of them so far. Some, better than others, but I can understand why people may not like Son of Stone. It wasn't as deep, but I think when you look at it in light of the entire series, it was a VERY important addition. I just finished D.C. Dead and it brings back the wit and humor, but didn't deal with a lot of family matters. It brings Stone back together working on a project with Dino (of course) and Holly Barker, with a little bit of Will Lee.
I already am anxiously awaiting the next one. Does anyone know what that will be??

I understand that it set up future novels for Peter and you are right Philip, no depth. It seems to me that he could have achieved the same thing with a little more excitement in it. That will not stop me from reading Stone though. I actually like Holly Barker a lot as well but she just kind of fell off the map. I have read many of the Will Lee novels also but I really like Stone and Barker much better.
You're right, Tracy. I like the Stone Barrington series much better. Woods must, too - after all he's done more of them! Next in preference is Holly Barker, followed by Will Lee. I haven't read any of the Ed Eagle though - any recommendations?
Ed Eagle is good. He is kind of like Stone just not as exciting and the settings are from earlier times. If I remember correctly Ed is in the movie business and gets Stone his start. I could be remembering this all wrong.
Nice how I started this group and yet I am so behind on what has to be one of my Favorite authors. I will be finishing Kisser tonight and then onto the next. Stuart Woods usually publishs a new book every October and April.
I just finished DC Dead and thought it was another great addition, even though Woods proved me wrong. After Son of Stone I expected the books to be more of a "family affair" an felt that the book was setting up a transition on the series which would include more of Peter and while he was included in DC Dead he did not play the central role that u expected. Stone Barrington's longtime fans will be happy with this book as it is more of a return to the traditional books in the series rather than the Son of Stone which many did not like. Overall for my money this is the best series of books on the market that doesn't include a young wizard with a lightning bolt scar on his head.
Philip, I agree with you. I just saw on the website (www.stuartwoods.com) that there will be a new book coming out in April 2012. It appears that it is even more going back to the "old roots" of Woods' writing and from the looks of the cover illustration could be a tribute to Elaine's Restaurant. In real life, it is my understanding that Elaine passed away last year.
Yes, I've never been there, but it is a real place in NYC. I don't know what has happened to it now that she's since passed. It will be interesting to see what Woods does, though, in the book.
Elaine's is shutting its doors.
For decades, Elaine Kaufman held court at the New York City restaurant bearing her name with a hand-picked selection of favorite regulars, literary luminaries and celebrities.
After Kaufman died in December, longtime manager Diane Becker inherited the restaurant. She announced Tuesday that the Upper East Side restaurant will shut its doors for good on May 26.
"This is one of the most difficult decisions I've ever had to make," Becker said in a statement Tuesday. "But the truth is, there is no Elaine's without Elaine."
The place is filled with history -- both real and imaginary.
AP FILE PHOTOFilmmaker Woody Allen was a regular at Elaine's in New York City. The restaurant is closing May 26.
Woody Allen opened his movie "Manhattan" with a scene set there. Billy Joel immortalized it in the song "Big Shot." Stuart Woods, author of dozens of popular mysteries, begins almost every book with his hero having dinner at Elaine's.
"I'm flabbergasted" about the closing, said Woods, whose new book, "Bel-Air Dead," is dedicated to Elaine. "I was there last Friday and Sunday nights, and there was a very good crowd."
Kaufman had a soft spot for writers who were trying to make it big, and she often let them eat for free. Among those who did make it big were Kurt Vonnegut, Norman Mailer, George Plimpton and Gay Talese. Eventually, they paid her back.
She was known as an exceptional listener, with patrons and friends typically sticking around until the early morning hours. Her regulars were fiercely loyal.
Tables were coveted, attracting mayors, artists and celebrities, including Jackie Onassis, Michael Caine and George Steinbrenner.
Former Mayor Ed Koch, who was in office when Elaine celebrated her 25th anniversary in 1988, said after her death that even he enjoyed spotting celebrities there. Mayor Michael Bloomberg called her a New York institution.
Allen became a regular, Kaufman told The Associated Press in 1988, because "he loves to people-watch. It's comfortable, nobody bothers him, we make him what he wants."
There were complaints over the years that Kaufman banished less-interesting people to the worst tables, but she didn't consider herself a snob and argued that her restaurant simply attracted a sophisticated crowd.
"I'll certainly miss it incredibly if the place is gone for good," said Woods. "It will be the end of an era. There are going to be a lot of writers wandering up and down Second Avenue, looking for a place to have dinner."
