Chelsea (theycallmebookworm) | 1955 comments Has anyone here found the book? What I mean by the book, is a book that is so awesome that you could read it forever and not be bored. A book that completes you in every way. A book that amazes you in it's sheer amazingness. It's a tall order from a book but entirely possible.

(Yeah you can count how many times I've said book!)

So... have you found the book?

Elizabeth | 2466 comments I don't know if I've found the book yet because there are so many more I want to read but right now after reading the lux series I can't remember a book that left me wanting more like it did or had so many emotion

Chelsea (theycallmebookworm) | 1955 comments I think right now the book for me is Graceling (Graceling Realm, #1) by Kristin Cashore , of course it might change but for just about my whole YA Bookwormy life it has been Graceling. Graceling completes me :).

Elizabeth | 2466 comments I'm planning on reading it next month so I'll let you know if it is life changing for me

Chelsea (theycallmebookworm) | 1955 comments It's just life changing for me because I owe it to Graceling - who got me into YA. Probally won't be life changing for you like it was for me.

I really don't want to kill Graceling with my hype. About a year ago I just about insisted that Jenny had to read it, she read it and then thought it was awesome but then admitted to me that I killed it a bit by saying it was the best book ever a million times to her. Mind you I was still going through the shock of YA being my one true Bookwormy destiny.

Donald I don't think it's really possible in general, but at the very least it's not possible for me. Most books that are amazing in some areas manage to pull it off by being horrible in others, and whether you love it or hate it is really determined by your experiences and state of mind (the former changes as you get older, and the latter changes frequently every day). Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein" changed my life, as it was the first book I read that went completely beyond what I thought a book could be, and it made me want to branch out into every genre and experience everything! That said, it was a few books in the "Fear Street" series by R.L. Stine ("Runaway", for example) that taught me the pure entertainment value of books back when I was eight years old. I loved them for completely different reasons, at different times in my life, and I wouldn't enjoy either nearly as much if I read them today. My current favourite is probably "The Spirit Thief" by Rachel Aaron, mostly because it was entirely different (and much better) than I was expecting, especially from a new author, but my favourites change on a weekly basis. I don't think my favourite has ever been "Graceling" (although I did really like it), but it WAS "Bitterblue" for a few weeks after I read it.

I agree! Maybe I am too nice with books, probally the case. I have only read YA for about 3 years so who knows I have barely scraped the top of the YA genre/iceberg.
(Bitterblue is amazing. Sorry off topic.)

Kate (kaitlins16) I don't know if there a "the book" for me, but the closest is Dreamland by Sarah Dessen , and not because it "completes me" or because it is the best book ever written. It's probably one of the books I've read the most, and it hit me every single time (which includes tears). I think it was the book that opened me up to the world of realistic fiction that I absolutely love. It's not a pretty story and doesn't end picture-perfectly: its about a girl who goes through the whole cycle of an abusive relationship with denial. (Plus, she has the same name as me in sound, but different spelling.) It's short, but still one of my favorite books.
