What are you working on now?

Natalie Owens (nataliegowens) | 3 comments As far as visual art, I haven't painted in a while, but I did paint something for my son's room to celebrate his spirit. "Cancer" sign with the element of water under the guidance of the moon - in surrealist style with 3D elements.

message 3: by [deleted user] (new)

Lovely. :):) I've made a folder for individual threads for each artist, and our favourite artists too. Feel free to post any photos of your work or links to images, Natalie. And welcome to the group!

Natalie Owens (nataliegowens) | 3 comments I have to take pictures! Haven't done that before. Thanks for the warm welcome, Gina! I look forward to seeing the other artists' work.

Armada Volya | 26 comments I haven't had much time to pain lately, but the painting I started (and really need to finish) is a table set up for breakfast. Instead of food there are textbooks and in the glass of milk there are pens and pencils.
I got this idea from a fellow youtuber, mylifeafterbreakfast, she sees the life before you go out into the world and actually work for a living as breakfast.

Ederyn Khushrenada | 41 comments Omg, Armada! I did a painting once called Self-portrait With Hand in Toaster. We really need to do the art show circuit with a breakfast theme!

And you definitely need to take piccies, Natalie! That surrealist Cancer thing sounds way kewl, though I can't picture the 3D elements. D'oh!

Ederyn Khushrenada | 41 comments I think I can safely say that's the first time I've ever seen moths and cobwebs used as a medium. ʘₒʘ

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

:D:D I even have a tiny spider living in one. I 'grow' cobwebs.

Yes, I have snake skins and batwings too. :):)

Ederyn Khushrenada | 41 comments I'm curious--have any of you ever read a Kindle comic book? I'm thinking of creating my own manga in Kindle form, using the maximum size 600x800 image for each panel. So each page would be one panel of the comic, and the picture would hopefully be large enough to see.

I've never heard of anyone doing that for Kindle, though, so I'm wondering how popular comics in general would be. Any thoughts?

message 12: by Armada (new)

Armada Volya | 26 comments Haven't done it, but am very interested. Vincent got a comic strip done and is working on more. We are thinking about turning them into ebooks.

Graphics come up really well on kindles. Can't remember which book it was, but I read a part written, part illustrated story, a while back, and loved the way it looked on my kindle.

I think it would be great, you'd just have to get the formatting right. I can see kdp having no problems with it, but the smashwords meatgrinder can't even cope with different font sizes without flipping out, so not sure about uploading it there.

Vincent Volya | 3 comments Started working on another cover. It's going to have a demoness running at the viewer. Still in the sketching stages.

After reading Pete Morin's latest blog post, I've pretty much decided not to bother with Smashwords...ever. I've heard nothing but bad things about it. If he can't sell books there, there's no way I could.

I'd much rather upload it to different retailers myself. This way I'll know what exactly I need to promote.
Wonder how nook is with graphic novels.

Dunno! I own a Kindle, and I've never even seen a Nook. I have no idea whether it's bigger, smaller or what. But as long as it looks good on my Kindle keyboard, I'm not going to worry about whether anyone else can see it properly or not. ^ᴗ^

message 18: by Armada (new)

Armada Volya | 26 comments I just got a new tablet. Looked at kobo store from it and found a few graphic novels there. Didnt download anything yet, but if I find anything I like, ill let you know.

message 19: by Ederyn (new)

Ederyn Khushrenada | 41 comments Okdk! I've been too lazy to search Amazon for Kindle manga, but I'm definitely going to do that one of these days. *adds to list of things to do*

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm going to have to look into smashwords again. I haven't even sent off any tax forms yet, as so far my work is free (samples). Must get it together, but I find it hard to muster enthusiasm for that side of it. Will go and look at Pete's latest blog now.

Armada Volya | 26 comments Just checked out kindle comics and it looks gteat, almost as fast as eegular ebooks.

I haven't done mine either Gina. Pisceans and taxes. Sigh.

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes, the two just don't go together, not even in a sentence. :D

Now I can show you guys the picture, because the album has been published. Dattatreya

The CD has not been uploaded to the website, but will be coming soon on Rahasya Geet which means "Mystic Song". Right now you can see the artwork I did for the first album, depicting the Mother Goddess Aditi. This artwork for the second album shows the wandering mystic Dattatrey depicted in a female form and deified. I'm very proud to have my artwork on this album, because I feel that the music is reflective of the picture.

message 25: by Ederyn (new)

Ederyn Khushrenada | 41 comments Oooh, nice! I love the colors. Major congrats on having your artwork chosen for a CD. =^ᴗ^=

It is gorgeous Aaron! :):)

Thanks guys. Yes it was kind of a big deal for me, even though the artist is a friend of mine. By the way, the site is updated now so you can see how they used it, and also get an idea of what kind of music it's for. Mystic Song

I have sourced local beeswax for my poppets, and am picking up 4 kilos tomorrow morning! I have my stock of bones ready and waiting. Looking forward to working with real beeswax instead of candle-wax, which is actually made from petroleum.

Also trying to get access to some old asylums here in Tasmania, in order to photograph them. I had set up to photograph the ones in Victoria, on the mainland, had the permissions, the regional gallery set up to hold the show, but didn't end up getting the grant. Just couldn't afford the materials in the end. Things are cheaper when you don't plan to hold an exhibition though.

Anyway, wish me luck with my wax. Can't wait to get my hands in it and start moulding! :D

message 29: by Ederyn (new)

Ederyn Khushrenada | 41 comments Oooh, they have asylums there? Like Blackwells Island or Bedlam and stuff? Kewl! I think all ours were probably condemned and torn down or turned into museums. Good luck with your poppet show! Heh. =^ᴗ^=

message 30: by [deleted user] (new)

Most of the Australian asylums closed back in the 1980s (I think it was that decade). One is about to be restored, so I best be quick!

Thank you! :D:D
