Ruth, as my mom has been pointing out, she's lived through several recessions already, this one isn't much different. But my mother lives always as if she is in a recession. That woman can make a nickel scream. I aspire, I tell you.

I developed an uncanny capacity early in life for a deep state of denial. Also known as dissociation. I sleep pretty good most of the time.

But would you rather hear gangsta rap about the good life being those...oh, wheel-rim-tire things, and some bling and hoes? That just doesn't seem right these days, either. Okay, it never seemed right, but it seems less so now. A little recession rock seems both opportunistic and comforting.
