Another excellent idea, Ian!
I downloaded a software called Ginger that works like the spell checker in Word, but is a bit more thorough, and you can have it go sentence by sentence checking for errors. It's free, too, so that helps. The only downside is it tends to slow the computer down a tiny bit, especially when typing, but if you leave it off while you type and only turn it on when you want to check it, you're fine. It has an extension for Chrome as well, so I don't make as many errors when posting online anymore. www.gingersoftware.com
Another goodie I like to keep handy is http://www.coolutils.com/online/image..., great for converting images for those of us who have a heavy hand in designing our own covers. :)

Thank you Ashley and Ian. Must check these when I'm at home with my computer. I think I'll proably try professional cover designers next (I'm really dreadful at it) but I'll check your suggestion first.
These are a great help, thanks.I hadn't eve thought about searching for sites like these, and the cover is so important even on eBooks.
prowritingaid is good, really makes you think, sometimes its a bit daft asking you to replace it or he lots of times. But generally it helps
Thank you. When I've finished the translation I'm doing now I'll try...Looking forward to checking these resources.

Not a website, but a resource nonetheless: The Emotion Thesaurus:A Writer's Guide to Character Expression, by Angela Ackerman and Becca Puglisi
Available both as an ebook and a paperback - invaluable for 'show not tell' writing :)
I've seen quite a few posts about cover creation & the exorbitant cost, and I agree. So much so, I've teamed up with a photographer friend of mine and started creating covers for sale, at a much lower cost than you'll find elsewhere.I have premade covers up on my site, or I can work with you and your own images, or we can talk about creating some original art. Original art will cost more because it takes a lot more time, but it's still not going to be as much as you'd get charged elsewhere.

Sometimes it is not just a site that can be useful but a person that can be helpful. I am to old to have starry eyes but I believe in credit where it is due so I am going to shamelessly plug this person here as she will help you.

Hi, Elise. I have a site, http://imtogfer.wix.com/resources-sel..., that I have set up as way for freelancers to get the word out about their services for self-pubbed authors. It is free (always) to advertise and it is also free to the authors to use. If you are interested in posting an ad, drop me a line at imtogfer@gmail.com and I'll get it set up for you. Greetings! My name is Joshua Grant, author of horror novel Pandora, and I wanted to offer all independent authors (and readers) a unique opportunity. On my site diabolicshrimp.com, there’s a section called Avid4 that’s designed to bring independent authors together and help them gain exposure and potentially make book sales. Here’s how it works. Authors who join are asked to purchase 3 books from other posted authors once a year. This is entirely on an honor system and you will not be hassled, but I do expect people to be honorable and support each other (it can literally cost you less than a cup of coffee to make a difference for someone else). I will also honor your presence on Avid4 by buying at least one book from an author each month, as well as highlighting a different book every week! You’ll know I bought your book because I’ll send you a photo of me holding it which I’ll post on the site. I humbly ask authors to purchase one of my books as well (which counts towards their three for the year).
Interested authors should head to diabolicshrimp.com and check out the Avid4 page. I ask them to give me their name as they want the public to see it, a 150 word maximum author bio or book description, and a link to their website or book description. I post this on Diabolic Shrimp for the world to see.
Good luck authors and I hope to see (and read) some of you on Diabolic Shrimp!
