Hola, here is a message from Shelly:

Good Evening Fellow BookClubbers:
Our first meeting was a great success thanks to David and his triumphant acquisition of our books and discussion questions.
Our first assignment is to read from the beginning to Page 66.
Our next meeting will be Saturday, March 9th at 8am at Laker Cake Bakery. Come prepared to discuss the first four chapters. It might be fun to bring your own questions for the group.
As we read the entire book some questions to consider are:
1. What is the significance of the garden referred to in the book's title?
2. Other than their setting in Blackwell, what links these stories?
3. How do outsiders fare in Blackwell?
4. What role do historical figures play in the book?
5. What does The Red Garden say about the connection between human beings and the natural word?
6. How do biblical motifs play out through the stories?
Happy Reading!

Our first book, The Red Garden by Alice Hoffman, was selected because the Newport Beach Public Library has this Book Club in a Bag thing where you can check out 10 paper back copies of the book, which I have done.
The book is available in a lot of eReader formats.
There is also a list of study questions in the Book in the Bag material that I will try to copy for our face to face meeting.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
