Johnny Wander might be about life after college, being a kid, growing up and all the people you meet and all the things that happen in that brave new world.

Or it might be about something else entirely.

(Also, first time posting a pic on Goodreads. Yay me!)

Kayleigh | 195 comments I liked this one more than I expected to. I've been hearing about Johnny Wander for years, but was never really interested in reading it. I'm glad that, thanks to this group, I finally gave it a chance. The down-to-earth humor reminded me of comics like QC and Hark! A Vagrant.

Kristen | 1179 comments I love Johnny Wander. I think it's got a really good sense of timing: knowing where to have punchlines and knowing what moment to use to express them. I would definitely hang out with the cast of Johnny Wander. They seem like really cool people.

Kayleigh | 195 comments I'm with you 100%, both about the timing and the cast. The fact that it's autobiographical adds an extra layer of awesome, too. I love it when people can take experiences from their own lives and turn them into something that's entertaining and relateable to a large audience.

Kristen | 1179 comments I think that one of the reasons why it's so funny is because these are real people. They actually experienced this. They did all of that stuff. They didn't just make up a story: They lived it.

Only a few in and I'm already highly amused. Journal comics aren't usually my cup of tea but this seems rather awesome. And another interesting surprise - they went to college in my hometown.

That's pretty neat! It's always a nice surprise when you read anything that is set near your hometown.

Definitely! Caught me off guard too - I saw the diploma picture on page 3 or so and did a double take thinking "wait, is that from RIT?!"

The more I read the more I realize how perfectly you've summarized it here. The approach and accessibility of everything is spot on, and the comic timing is incredible. I also find myself relating to it alot.

A couple of favorites so far: While my friends never called it haircut tax, this happened to me every time I got a haircut in college. And this one just made me laugh in commiseration

Kristen | 1179 comments Oh gosh, I think any of the comics that have John in them are hilarious. I am especially fond of this one: John's look of absolute rage is priceless.

And while I think the second one is funny(the second panel is so cute), I think there is a level of the humor there that I will just not understand because I have always lived in Florida. The coldest I ever remember it being is in the 30's and that's only at night. I think it's in the upper 60's right now and it's downright cold for this time of year for us.

I love that one. I've been in that exact situation, and it is incredibly frustrating.

One of my favorites so far is this one. My cat used to do things like that.

Kristen | 1179 comments I consider myself lucky that my cats don't try to eat people food(except for canned tuna. No! You can't have it!). I love all of the comics that have cats in them. I rather like this one: you just gotta love that last panel.

Kayleigh | 195 comments I think for my cat it was a survival thing. He was on the streets for a while as a kitten, and I'm not sure how long he went without food before falling into our window-well and being found by my little brother. Once he figured out that we had every intention of feeding him regularly, he got much less crazy about stealing human food (though he still occasionally goes after tuna or chicken).

The strips with cats are among my favorites--they remind me so much of my own cats--who I miss :(

I hadn't seen that one yet. Awesome! John is fantastic.

Yep, definitely a regional thing. 30 degrees was WARM for a winter day in Rochester.

I'm not really a pet person, so while the cat ones amuse me I find a lot of the other stuff more relatable.
