SPECULATION: The next "presumed dead" character to still be alive is...

While I have not read The Angel's Game, The Prisoner of Heaven seems to point to another long-assumed-dead character who is still alive:
Daniel's mother Isabella Sempere.
She "died" of poison from evil, poor-writer Governor Mauricio Valls. But lets look at the clues which point to her still being alive:
1. Someone helped save David Martin from execution. 2. Suddenly a "cousin" shows up who looks just like Isabella Sempere.
3. Said cousin is the right age for a daughter from Isabella Sempere (though if the father is Daniel's father or David Martin, I don't know the math well enough, Angel's Game readers, were they in love?)
4. Someone (implied: a secretary) at Valls publishing firm is trying to get into the Sempere family via Bea.
5. Valls has disappeared.
My theory: Isabella survives the poisoning, but then realizes that as long as Valls has power over David Martin, everyone's life will be in danger.
She fakes her death (a common theme in the story) and then retreats. When she hears that Martin is scheduled to be executed, she returns to save him.
NOTE: There will be more twists into why Valls scheduled Martin's execution at a home rather than a prison.
I would also suggest that Isabella has been living off the money which should have been in the locker.
Remember that after Martin left the Cemetery of Forgotten Books, he was driven away in a nice car.
so if Daniel's mother is still alive, what's the next story reveal?

The only thing I could resent is why Isabella took so long to come back.

Maybe it's David Martin who is still alive.
From what Bebo the guard told Brians, when David Martin was brought to an old mansion to be executed something happened. And then when Daniel and Fermin spoke with Isaac in the Cemetery of Forgotten Books, Isaac was adamant that he spoke with David during the period that he was presumed dead, and that David left a package with Isaac for safekeeping.
Reading the last part of Prisoner of Heaven where Daniel and his son visited Isabella's grave, I had a feeling that it was David Martin who left that angel figurine with Valls' address inside :-)

David Martin is definitely still alive. Isabella may or may not be alive, but...Hmmm!
oh wow! I need to reread all three! I loved Shadow of the Wind, and feel it was among the best books I ever read. I wasn't as enthralled with the other two, but maybe if I reread them all again...
