Autumn (autumnmemory80) I would like to nominate The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair that Changed America.

Author Erik Larson imbues the incredible events surrounding the 1893 Chicago World's Fair with such drama that readers may find themselves checking the book's categorization to be sure that 'The Devil in the White City' is not, in fact, a highly imaginative novel. Larson tells the stories of two men: Daniel H. Burnham, the architect responsible for the fair's construction, and H.H. Holmes, a serial killer masquerading as a charming doctor.

Great book. It's one of my favorites, so even if it doesn't get picked it's worth taking the time to read.

message 17: by Andrea (last edited Mar 12, 2013 01:25PM) (new)

Andrea Corley | 1298 comments I just want to remind you guys that in order for your nomination to be accepted it is a requirement that your nominated book be available in paperback. A lot of our members borrow their books from the library and we can't ask them to have to purchase a book at hardback expenses, so we are requesting that your nomination be available in paperback, and that it have been released for at least 6 months prior to the month in which we are sending nominations.

For example, if the book you nominated was just released in Paperback today, then this book would not be eligible for nomination this go around (for May's reads)! However, you may then nominate it when we are asking for nominations for September's reads. That way we are giving everybody ample time to obtain the group reads by whichever means they so desire!

If you have any questions about this and/or if your book is eligible, please don't hesitate to ask myself or another one of the Moderators, and we'd be happy to help you. A good quick reference is to check out the book on Amazon or B&N to see if it is available in paperback.

I'll be sending those of you that we would like for you to nominate another book a PM asking you to do so!

Have a great day!
