I'm 11 of 28 holds at the library, so I don't think I'm going to get it in time to read it this month.I'm 67 of 79 holds on Jim Butcher's Cold Days, so it will be months before that one comes. :-(
I have enjoyed all the Mercy books so far including Frost Burned. I did find River Marked better than Frost Burned. Characters, dialogue, descriptions, action are all great. I believe it was just the antagonist/plot twist that didn't sit well with me. Still a great read and an enjoyable book.
Nancy, while I liked River Marked, it was the least favorite of the series. I missed all the secondary characters. So I was happy to see that Frost Burned brought them all back.I loved the wolf that Bran sent to help out, a surprising choice.
I loved seeing more of Gabriel's family, I hope that Mama Sandavol is now brought into the fold.
I found it interesting how Tony and some others that weren't aware of Mercy's secret were now let in on it.
Darcy, The secondary characters are wonderful. The book was really good and i enjoyed it. Just the climax and ending that didn't feel quite right - i will let ya know when i figure out why :)I liked River Marked because it brought out more of Mercy's background, heritage and abilities. She became a stronger, more rounded person and the plot was engaging and enjoyable.
i have always enjoyed the characters and dialouge in these books and i agree that Mercy's secret being out with hopefully Gabriel's family being back in will make things all the more interesting and fun.
looking forward to the next Mercy book.
I love this series, but River Marked was a big let down for me. It seemed like it didn't fit with the other stories. I'm hoping Frost Burned is more like the other books.
I really liked this book. I loved that Bran sent the Moor to help out and he just had to confirm some of the stories he'd heard about Mercy. Frankly, I would just love to read about the first time Tony catches up to Mercy. If I were him and Mercy had been confusing me for as long as she has, I would have lots of questions and I wouldn't be taking stall for answer this time!

Frankly, I would just love to read about the first tim..."I forgot about the Tony and Gabriel question. Yep, that is another part of the story I'm wondering about. Not only that but Tony has some wicked ability to conceal his identity. I wonder why and how. The only reason Mercy recognizes him is smell. Is there some other reason that is the case? I'm doing a reread where he played a bigger part.
I just finished this book, and it's been a while since I read the rest of the series, so I'm not sure if I forgot Samuel getting together with his half-fae mate, or if that was a short story I've never come across. Background, anyone? As far as Mercy not noticing Tony right away, that didn't jump out at me. Wasn't she awake about 30 hours straight before he showed up at Warren's house? And wasn't he on the other side of 2 doors - the bedroom and the bathroom, in a very big house? And didn't he speak second - some other officer spoke first? So I don't really get Amy's question. I'm wondering if I missed something.
Personally, I look forward to more of the Moor in the future. And weirdly, I liked Wulfe in this one. He was funny in the final scene. I am also really glad that Tad's back - I'd like to see his character expanded. In fact, I'd like all the characters to be expanded. My only complaint about Ms. Briggs writing is that she likes to write as lean as possible. I've read something she wrote about it. Her goal is nothing extraneous, a fast moving plot. I actually like more world-building and character development. But her writing is so fantastic that I forgive her.
Loved this book (and series in general). The plot was a little busy with the twists and turns at the end but it did draw from events of the previous books so I was okay with it.I liked everyone's reactions to Asil and loved Asil's reaction to Zee. Everyone freaks out when Asil is mentioned so it's nice to see someone freaks him out.
Adam's point of view - finally!
I figured Wulfe was playing both sides as soon as he made his appearance - he did the same thing in Blood Bound.
I liked the tidbits of knowledge that were dropped throughout the book - Ben's last name, Zee's real name, etc.

Background, anyone?"Warning, spoilers if you haven't read Silver Borne...
Samuel reunited with Ariana in Silver Borne. She's traumatized by wolves because her father - the Dark Forest Lord - used hellhounds and wolves to force her to create the Silver Borne - a magical artifact that absorbs fae magic. Bran and Samuel were "called" by her father (he could control certain types of animals) but broke free, killed the Dark Forest Lord and rescued Ariana but not before Samuel attacked her. A few of Ariana's scars are from Samuel. Samuel healed her, the two fell in love, and promised to return to her if she ever needed him. Fast forward a few centuries, Ariana helps Mercy with a fairy queen and she is reunited with Samuel.
I really enjoyed the book. Having gotten into the series late, I read the first six in relatively short order. Having to wait about 2 years for the next one was hard. I was definitely glad to get to see Mercy's world and all characters we know and love again. I hope we get #8 sooner rather than later!I hope we continue to see some more of Asil, because I liked him. Also, I'm glad Tad is back, I missed him.

I can't remember hardly any of that! I think I'd better re-read the whole series before starting Frost Burned!
How do you all keep track of all these series? I really prefer to read a series that is finished already, or at least has many books out, then read entire series straight through. Otherwise I forget all these details.

Major book geek. I re-read a lot of these series and I have a younger sister who has the exact same reading tastes as me. We walk together every day and the conversation is 10% actual life stuff, 90% books so the details stay fresh in my mind.
Patricia Briggs is one of my favorite writers, and I thought Frost Burned was very good. However, it felt like two stories, the kidnapping and rescue of the pack, and the challenge with the vampires. It needed more foreshadowing for the two stories to merge well. That said, I've read it twice in the last week. :)
The plot was very busy but I loved all the tidbits of information we learned - Ben's full name, Zee's real name, Honey's age, etc. Lots of humor in the book too - some of my favorite quotes were "Maybe he had recovered from being crazy", "I rode in a car with a dead body. It's a secret", "Maybe I'll get pregnant and work fast food for the rest of my life", and "I was going to fight vampires and my name wasn't Buffy. I was so screwed".
I'm with Jalilah & L.J. here. The first three quarters (or whatever) didn't jibe with the last quarter. I would have liked that once (view spoiler) they should have rescued the Congressman, told the police and feds the truth they needed to tell them and then ended the book.
I finished this one last week and it was definitely great to see all of the old characters. But I missed Bran and Samuel.A few things that I though were odd was in previus books I though Mercy was getting along better with the women of the pack but now it seems like that is no longer the case
I also got to thinking I wonder if Jessie or Kyle will want to become a werewolf...
Anyway overall I liked the book but to me the issue with the vampire seemed disconnected to the vampire issue.

No, because the whole point of the story was about the Vamps machinations. If the wolves had rescued the Congressman (who we still don't know if he is a good guy or bad guy) we wouldn't know WHY all of this happened. Why did it happen? Because the vamps and vamp politics were involved. The first 3/4 of the book were the what, the last quarter was the why.
