This date March 4, 1881 marks the literary beginning of the mystery-solving partnership of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson. "It was upon the 4th of March, as I have good reason to remember, that I rose somewhat earlier than usual, and found that Sherlock Holmes had not yet finished his breakfast." Later that morning, they began their first case together, “A Study in Scarlet”, commencing the most enduring detective duo in literary history. Happy anniversary!
