peg (mcicutti) I have started it and so far, it is engaging. The unusual authorship of A Monster Calls is interesting:

A Monster Calls(view spoiler)

Suzanne | 29 comments Thanks for sharing that Peg - very interesting. I read the book about a year ago and I liked it. However, there isn't much more I can say without spoiling it =).

message 3: by Jen (new) - rated it 5 stars

Jen (delphyne) A Monster Calls is one of the best books I have ever read. I hope many of you read it and love it as much as I did.

Leniw | 3 comments What a great book!
It isn't actually a collaboration. It is based on an idea of Siobhan Dowd but she died before writing it. Some asked Patric Ness to write it according to Siobhans' writing style but he refused. After reading the idea though, a new story formed in his mind and he asked permission to write this one.

Andrea Corley | 1298 comments I guess I better get to reading this so I can participate. It was a nomination for another group I'm in for February but didn't make it through and after reading the synopsis of it I just HAD to read it!

Jamie Sheffield (jamiesheffield) | 7 comments I'm going to download and read this book.

Thanks,

Jamie

Andrea Corley | 1298 comments This will be my next read and I can't wait! I've been DYING to read it!

Kristina (kristina3880) I started this book and so far it is very engaging. Looking forward to seeing some spoilers when I am done.

Jamie Sheffield (jamiesheffield) | 7 comments I've been loving this book, although some parts of it are tough to read. I'm thankful for this group, as without it, it's unlikely that I would have found and read this book.

Thanks,

Jamie

Andrea Corley | 1298 comments I started a little bit of this last night!

Kristina (kristina3880) I just finished the book and gave it 5 stars. I will admit that I cried like a baby and I don't cry very often. I would have never read this if it was not recommended here. Thanks for a great book.

Linda (beaulieulinda117gmailcom) | 1403 comments It was a good read, more suited to a younger audience I think, but again I'M wouldn't either if it wasn't recommended here.

Diane S ☔ Loved it and found it extremely clever. So very heartbreaking and believable.

Andrea Corley | 1298 comments I am so glad everyone is enjoying this so much! This is the first book that has ever been selected that I nominated so how exciting is it that everyone is LOVING it? I can't wait to finish it!

Andrea Corley | 1298 comments It was a nomination that didn't pass in another group. The members don't nominate but the moderator nominated 3 books and you can vote on them! Once I read the description I knew I had to read it

Linda (beaulieulinda117gmailcom) | 1403 comments It was an enjoyable read, that's for sure.

Michael (fisher_of_men) | 72 comments Wow! I had a sizable lump in my throat as I came to the last page of this book. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. A great read!

Leigh | 6291 comments I am behind on this one. I got it yesterday and read about half of it. My goodness is it beautiful and sad.

Leigh | 6291 comments Finished. Very Very sad but very good. I am going to have to read something light and silly after this one.

Andrea Corley | 1298 comments I started it but got side tracked! I need to get back on track! I had lost my library loan but just got it back!

Leigh, that makes me very interested in finishing it!

Leigh | 6291 comments Just started Doors Open last night. Got some silly YA and David Sedaris too.

Andrea Corley | 1298 comments I finished this one last week and I'm not as thrilled about it as I was excited! It was a great book but not a 5 star read for me! It was heartbreaking though, that is for sure!
