Sherlock Holmes discussion

Hey guys, I received the full annotated Sherlock Holmes collection for Christmas this year, and I came upon a story I hadn't read before. It's a graphic tale called The Cardboard Box. Anybody else heard of it??

It's in Memoirs in UK editions and His Last Bow in US editions. For some reason though it wasn't included in the books for years. It had been published in The Strand though.

It was also one of the stories included in the Jeremy Brett tv series.

I will have to read that story! I haven't read any of the old books yet though, I've only seen the BBC series

You can borrow our Sherlock Holmes book if you want. It's technically Mum and Dad's, but it lives in my room. I've hijacked it.

I read in some appendix to some addition of The Further Adventures of Sherlock Holmes that The Cardboard Box was actually excluded from some earlier editions for being TOO graphic (and no wonder why!)- but the brilliant deductive scene from the beginning was tacked on to another story. This caused some crazy weather fluctuations, as the revised story jumped from sultry summer to chilly autumn!

Yeah! I remember reading that somewhere, pretty astounding! Although I agree, it's kinda graphic
