glad to have a romance thread! i like those cheesy, swoony stories that are light to read. make your heart race, puts a smile on your face and have happily ever after endings :-)
i like those by e.l. james, sylvia day, katie ashley, sandi lynn, jodi ellen malpas, jeniffer probst, bella andre and a lot more
I used to read alot of historical romances, but I haven't read one of them in a long time. My favorite authors for those reads were Johanna Lindsey, Rebecca Brandewyne, Jennifer WildeRatz - I'll have to look up those authors. I tend to stick w/ the same authors, which is a "habit" I'm trying to break.
Have to admit-- I have a real weakness here it usually stems into 3 parts... -Historical romance-
-Gay Romance- Anything by Amy Lane... She makes my heart hurt
-Teen Romance- We are not gonna get into this nope nope nope
Never read romance novels and never will. Just sayin'

Touche, Ina. If you need sugary romance novels to get aroused, more power to you. :) I'm a Scotsman...are you trying to tempt me with that book?

Unfortunately no I do not need them, They just tend to balance out all the horror movies And documentaries I watch.I had no clue about the Scottish ancestry- from what I saw the raunchiest tend to have Scottish in the title
I romance my wife. That's it.
I'm a proud Scotsman, member of the Black Watch...and very raunchy.
This Scotsman has been tempted often. :)

Nicholas Sparks and Judith McNaught would be my favorites in this genre. they write really awesome love stories....
Nicholas Sparks writes touching novels. I wouldn't classify him as a romance novelist, though.
Aaron wrote: "Nicholas Sparks writes touching novels. I wouldn't classify him as a romance novelist, though."But....he writes love stories. I've read most of his books....that's the only genre he writes.

Oh I agree. He writes great love stories. What I meant was, they're not 'chick lit', a term which I hate. A lot of men like Sparks' work.

yes you're right.....they're not chicklit. He writes more of "serious" love stories....

Full of hurdles to get over. His movies are as good as the books...except The Lucky One. That movie is terrible.

Aren't Nicholas Sparks' books basically the same formula? Two people fall in love, are separated by some obstacle (money, their parents, etc.), one person's family member dies of a disease, they reunite years later.
Every book I have read by him is like this. He's not a bad writer, it just got stale for me after the first few books. Then again, I'm pretty critical of romance novels. Nowadays, they suck.

Well....not all the stories are of the same formula. Some are different. They usually exhibit two people not meant to fall in love, fall in love. All the things you mentioned form the core of some of his books....but more than that, I think the way he writes about human emotions and feelings are more commendable. His books make me cry....:)
I'm really enjoy THIS book! It's funny and witty and hard to put down!Sex in the Title: A Comedy about Dating, Sex, and Romance in NYC

Romance novels suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi, I'm actually looking for NA contemporary romance where H pursues the heroine relentlessly.I'm kinda sick of reading books where the guy pushes the girl away and does stupid stuff because of his "tragic past", so if you know any books similar to this please let me know. Since you all already read romance books.
I actually read a book like this, The Space Between, where the guy didn't push her away in fact it was the other way around and it was a little Love-at-first-sight for him but not her.
So, if you know anything similar to this please let me know.
