ePoetry is not your typical poetry literary magazine. We don’t accept poems, we showcase poets. Five of them. Every month.
When you submit, we accept or reject of all the poems submitted in that submission. If we accept your work, we interview you and allow you to place an ad for your book or blog, free of charge. Your interview will run alongside your poetry.
As writer’s ourselves, we know how hard it is to get your name out there. ePoetry wants to help you stand above the fray.
So, what are we looking for?
We are open to most kinds of poetry, but we are especially fond of free verse and Haiku, poetry that is accessible, not overly verbose and not self-aggrandizing. It’s okay to rhyme, but the rhymes better wow us. If we read the word “love” and the word “dove” in close proximity, we’re not going to be happy, and you’ll probably get a rejection notice from us. We don't put a lot of limitations on the kinds of poetry we accept, because all poetry and subjects have merit.
Compensation
In addition to a copy of the issue the writer appears in, writers who contribute a piece of writing are entitled to a lifetime royalty on individual issues sales. The participating writers for each issue split 50% of individual issue sales revenue. So a month from the day the issue is released, until the end of time, our system will track sales of issues your poems are in and have an account for you which will pay out automatically as soon as the total amount is enough to send your way. A royalty agreement will be included with your acceptance letter.
In short, the more you share the magazine, the more people will see your work, and the more money you’ll earn.
Please follow the guidelines below before submitting.
We only accept submissions via Submittable (link below). Submissions sent as attachments will be deleted and links to your website will not be followed. If you want to see your work in ePoetry, use Submittable. If you’re having trouble with Submittable, please e mail us and we’ll look for an alternative.
Submit 3-5 poems in one document. Please use BOLD print to separate each poem, and begin each poem on its own page. Please do not send less than three poems or more than five (you may send up to ten Haiku), per submission. If you are not interested in submitting 3-5 poems, please submit your poem to one of our other genre magazines that you feel is a good fit for your poem.
Be sure to send each submission formatted the way you want it to appear on the “printed” page. 12 pt., easy to read font. Also, unless it is absolutely neccesary to the poem, please do not center justify your work. Also, do not include photographs or art with your piece.
Please send work that has been proofread and edited. Submissions that need a lot of editing will be rejected. If we accept your work, we will send you a proof for your approval on the layout and any grammatical changes made by our editorial staff.
On the first page of your submission, include your name, e mail address, a brief cover letter, and a listing of each poem included in the submission. A bio is not necessary. Improperly formatted submissions are likely to be rejected.
Submit as often as you’d like, but please note, there is a three issue break for authors. This is to ensure the diversity of the magazine.
Please make sure that the pieces you submit are not currently available on the internet, as this could get us in trouble with the Google Gods. Blogs, online literary magazines, and public (i.e., not password protected) workshop groups count. Pieces published in a book or printed publications are okay, provided proper attribution is given to the first time publisher. That said, we are most interested in previously unpublished work. If we are the first to publish your work, please make note of that in future publications.
All of our rejection notices are personalized, usually with a bit of advice and an invitation to submit your work to our FREE private workshop. Because we personalize our rejections, please allow us at least three months to respond to your submission, and do not query before six months have passed. You can view your submission status on Submittable at any time. The longer you wait to hear from us, the more likely your work is going to be accepted.
