Christopher Walken's Gabriel in the first Prophecy film pretty much sums it up for me.They're wonderful and terrible beings and I wouldn't want to meet one :-)
In most angel/ demon books Gabriel ends up being one of my favorites. He seems to be the kindest archangel. The only book/ movie I didn't like him in was the movie Constantine
I have yet to see that movie, although I want to. How is he in Legion?
Well, he's both a good and bad guy. He's following the orders of God and wants to please him so much that he doesn't understand that he's not doing what The Lord needs instead of wants. Michael is the one who does the good errand. Gabriel is only following orders, but in the movie, he failed him, and truly wasn't that well of a good guy. He was suppossed to kill a baby that would make the world walk out of darkness and he tried really hard to do that task, but in the end, he failed. So whether you put it as a good person or bad person, the thoughts are up to you-I'd say he's a bit of both. :)
It sounds like he's both. Especially since he couldn't kill the baby. He technically failed Heaven, but it was because he was too kind hearted/ compassionate to kill a baby.
Well, Michael who fell to save mankind, stopped Gabriel from killing the child and got his wings back for pleasing God.
So Michael is more the good guy. He's usally portrayed as the mean one so it's good for him to finally be seen as nice
Yes, he is :) I'm actually quite happy about that too! :) I wish Gabriel was a bit more nice too though :/ lol
I portrayed Michael as more of a leader in my own book and made Gabriel more like the caring guardian. I think those rolse fit them without making either of them mean
I like the angels in supernatural. the fact they cannot be betrayed as good or evil. I have also read several books where the angels are depicted as evil and I enjoy that side so much more.
I love the angels in supernatural just because of Castiel. I really hated Zacheria and Uriel. They were both assholes.
Personally, I enjoyed all the angels (Gabriel and Lucifer most assuredly included) in Supernatural, primarily because some of them are assholes. It reminds me of my D&D days, when I used to annoy fellow players by pointing out that Paladins don't have to be "nice." They have a job to do, and strive to uphold the law and what they perceive as right... but that doesn't make them fluffy bunnies. As far as Legion goes, I loved it. Primarily because it put angels back to their roots. They're warriors, almost by definition, and steel-winged angels beating the hell out of one another suits that imagery in my mind.
But I'm going to have to agree with Michael up there... likely my favorite angel character is Gabriel from The Prophecy. He's just so smarmy and nasty, while still doing his job, and what he thinks to be right. (Gabriel from Constantine also pleased me, because making him/her/it a manipulative bastard fits back to my "who says they have to be nice?" mentality, but Prophecy's Gabriel has a much more entertaining personality.)
I agree with Kaine that angels have a job to do and because of that they're not always sweet loveable. I prefer to see angels represented as tough unyielding creatures. The sweet kindly white fluffy winged idea doesn't do it for me. I think Gabriel from The Prophecy was pretty cool. However, Lucifer is the ultimate angel. You put him in anything and you've got a story.
Devotion and loyalty is what they regardHoly Allegiance, messengers of God
Four commonly known but there's actually seven
One for all eternity banished from Heaven
They are not divine but hold the highest rank
Each with different traits their minds are never blank
Morality and support, their job is to provide
To help a person see what they are worth inside
They help and aid to which the heart sings
For their good intentions they earn their wings
They fight for righteousness and for the creator
Against the fallen underworld dictator
To protect us and make sure we don't fall from grace
The archangels on earth to safe the human race
Excellent as always. Planning another book of poetry?
for me, I always love when Angles and Demons cross over. in my 'reality' Angels work in the back ground, and just beyond our sight, and Demons have no problem making their presence known!
Interested take on it. I am currently working on the idea where demons are taking angel form in order to trick/ seduce humans. It's turning out very interesting and different from what I usually write
Well I finished that novella. it will now sit until I am ready to edit and expand on it.
S.K.N. wrote: "Well I finished that novella. it will now sit until I am ready to edit and expand on it."Is that what your "evil secret project" you had been mentioning on Facebook was? XD
Yes it is. Would you like to read it? Still need a few beta readers.
I'm certainly willing, though with things as they are at the moment, I can't guarantee how fast I'd get through it. Been juggling moving, job hunting, car hunting and keeping my coyote from eating all the furniture when I'm away a lot, lately. Heh. But, intrigued, certainly. XD
Lol. I will send it but there is no rush. I want to really build my "author platform" before I submit it to anyone, publisher wise. I need to sound a lot more impressive than I am. :P
You are plenty impressive, and certainly seem better at the whole platforming thing than I'll ever be; I have faith in you.
I hope so. I don't think I will ever be the female Stephen King, although one can always wish and dream

Forget king be a female SKN Hammerstone. I have faith other wise I'm sending an Ekimuu to giv e you beauty tips!
Yeah... female Stephen king... kind of like the genie thing, right? ;)
And right now SKN Hammerstone is a little peon in the literary world but I will work on that.

A peon isn't that far up the scale from that. It's like a quarter of a step up, really.
I think S.K.N Hammerstone is definitely doing great things with this group and her writing. I am curious as to her secret in getting publicity for her books lol
I'm not really sure what my secret is. I really don't do that much promoting really...
I did NOT like Legion, sorry. They portrayed Michael as a more of a....Luciferian figure, with Gabriel as a mor emichael-ish one.My favorite would have to be Gabriel. Not really sure why.
And Castiel, the Angel of Thursday....and Samandriel, but we're heading toward Fandom Territory now.
I actually thought lucifer was almost more of a good guy than Gabriel in that.
S.K.N. wrote: "I actually thought lucifer was almost more of a good guy than Gabriel in that.":O
In...Legion....or SuperNatural?
Legion. He actually helped people. I think Lucifer is more a neutral figure who chose to have free will and that made him "evil"
Supernatural I love his character but he is blatantly evil
In Legion we didn't see any Lucifer. We saw Gabriel acting much more Michael-ish with Michael doing what we could expect from Lucifer.
Maybe I'm thinking of the wrong movie... again :P THe one where viggo mortensen is Lucifer. I can't remember which one that was...
And I always thought of Michael as more not evil but rough around the edges at the very least. After all he is that whole "general of heaven's armies" thing
