Your in the woods, you have nothing but a cell phone that has no signal, a peice of string and a knife. How do you survive and get rescued?

Yea! ;)
Quickly look for food maybe hunt using my knife, then I would climb a tree and stay their using the rope to climb so it's not as tiring :pAnd as for the phone.. Hmm maybe I would find a signal if i move around the area?
Yeah I would basically just die with these brilliant ideas :pp
If a bear runs at you, what do you do to get away?
I would run in a diagonal line away from the bear, because bears can't change direction that well
It really depends on how close they are when they attack
Hey, yall! I just joined the group. This looks like fun!
"Your in the woods, you have nothing but a cell phone that has no signal, a peice of string and a knife. How do you survive and get rescued?"
I am basing my answer on this time of year, type of forest nearby, and my own crappy, service almost nowhere phone.
Birch and bamboo are both in my area, so I would use my knife to cut a piece of bamboo into a long beaker. I would then tap a birch for sap to collect in the cup. (I'd return to retrieve later.)
If the weather looked good, I would take some of the birch bark, collected wood, etc. for fire prep. Assuming the string is from my survival bracelet, I would make a bow to make the fire with. Time permitting, I would then focus on shelter. Food could wait until tomorrow.
My phone would likely be off, either to conserve battery until I am out of the woods, or because the crappy battery already died.
If you see holes in my plan, feel free to point them out, but I think I covered the bases. :)

You definitely did!
Ok, the world has just ended, but you've survived. The world is a barren wasteland. You had, in no way prepared for this. What do you do first?

Concentrate on the knife. Your priority is building a shelter and hewing wood for a fire. This is why a hand-axe is way better in the woods than a knife is. What you have is a very tedious chore ahead of you; cutting down small trees and trimming limbs with a knife is a pain-in-the-ass. Shelters are easy to construct, once you have the wood; but getting the wood takes time. So, start immediately. From the phone, maybe you can get a lens somehow and use sunlight to start a fire. Otherwise its the old indian technique. Sure, the string might help with that. But you still need wood, and fast, and plenty of it; before the sun goes down.
The next day, you can construct spears or other makeshift weapons for self-defense, hunting, or fishing; possibly the string can be used as a fishing line if you can devise a hook. Break open the phone and lift out some of the circuitry to twist into shape for that.
