Just to open up a folder here for books we wish be translated (into Engls most part). For example, we all would like to have Arno Schmidt's masterwork Zettels Traum Arno Schmidt available to us in English. And indeed rumour has it that John E. Woods has a finished manuscript, but no word on publication.

! About to get the dusty Deutsch dusted off and polished up to read this. Danke!
I have purchased it as a visible incentive and eventual prize for myself for learning the language to a sufficient level for reasonable appreciation and as reference material for this translation; it is as beautiful as it is heavy: over and out.

My jealousy has a few degrees higher which it may go.... As for the Deutsch, deutsch-via-schmidt may be about as bad of an idea as deutsch-via-hegel. ; )

So he read one page four years ago... ; )
But srsly I think the Stiftung links to this page too.
We have an approximate date for Bottom's Dream :: "Early 2016". From Arno's cottage ::http://www.arno-schmidt-stiftung.de/B...
Hopefully, once Dalkey is finished promoting O'Brien's recent knighthood, maybe they'll have something comfirmatory to add.
Sorry if this is the wrong place, and for the shameless plug.I just received Zettels Traum (the German one), and added some photos to my "review". First impression? You don't have to actually read it. It stands as a piece of art all on its own.

As a German reader, have you taken a look at Woods' translation? I have the English translation and it's really fucking lovely, but I'm curious about just how much Woods' work "deviates" from the original (((not that that wholey matters, just that I'm curious about Woods' own contributions))).
I know Woods is something of an "intentionalist radical".

I'd say most of the time Woods idea was just as weird/elegant/ingenious/etc, albeit different.

I can hardly imagine anyone would ever come up with a better translation of ZT.
