Lea, I know what you mean. I was so gung-ho for the 50-state challenge, but when I browsed my wish list for qualifying books, I discovered I had very few set in the U.S. I had to do some browsing, but I keep finding books from other lands to add to my list as well. Guess I'll save those for after the challenge!
Branch out! Find something fantastic that's new! And absolutely use what you read in Jan and Feb. Keep adding to the lists too. I like our challenge!

I have two books to add to my 50 state challenge.

Well, I've been idle for a while. I go through spurts of reading/not reading. Guess which one I just finished? I added an Ohio book to my list. I'm finishing it tomorrow with my reading class (sixth grade). I don't think I'm going to make this goal this year. I just don't see myself reading 40 books in a month. lol Anyway, my winter reading has begun, so it's nice to be back. Jenni, I'm glad to see you've been more successful than I have. :)
I've enjoyed it, but there's no way I'm going to finish this list this year. I guess that is the whole point of a challenge though. I think I'll try it again next year. The 52 sounds like a good idea.
I just started mine in November (Veteran's Day). And I made a reminder list on my phone that has each state plus corresponding books for the state from my TBR. It's going pretty well, so far. NY and MA have to be the easiest states, but OH, NV, and a couple others, not so easy.
Somehow I've ended up with two from New Jersey. I don't think I've ever read a book set in New Jersey prior to this year and now I've read two!
I'm going to read The Accursed by Joyce Carol Oates for my NJ book. But I agree - usually not a lot set in NJ.
And I love your PA book. Wonderful author. I just read an advance reader of The Impossible Knife of Memory.
I've decided to keep my 50 states challenge rolling this year rather than start over. I'm kind of interested in how long it takes me to finish it.
Hey, everybody! I went on a reading hiatus myself for a while. My commute time was spent practicing a Christmas cantata, then after that my car was silent for several days, then I listened to Pandora for a spell. I just started a new audio book this morning a do thought I would check in here. Good to see a revival of the Show - Me Readers!I was able to make some good headway on the 50 States Challenge, but I'm not giving up on it either. Finishing is more important to me than finishing on time. Good to see you all again!
The only requirement for this challenge is for the book to be set in the state or does it have to be about the state?
