Thanks for sharing, Johanna. I love this playlist! My Adrien & Jake song is "Lover, You Should've Come Over" by Jeff Buckley. :)

You are welcome. :-) And we really should be thanking Josh for these.
I remember my own joy when I found these a year ago (or something like that). I've listened to them quite a bit after that. You can still find the playlists on Josh's website too, of course.

This play list is brilliant!! I'm listening to it for the third time today :) Alternative rock is definitely the category of 'conventional' music that suits me the best.

Thanks, Joe. One daughter introduced me to Mumford and Sons, and now I've added this group to my collection. I was just watching the music video for Little Talks. Revisiting my long ago enthusiasm for Richard and Mimi Farina and others from the 1960s folk revival.

Josh wrote: "I love Mumford and Sons!"And I've fallen in love with the Lumineers, Phillip Phillips, and Imagine Dragons.
This place is bad for my pocketbook. First it was a growing list of books to buy and now I've got to add music to that too. Being a member of the Josh Lanyon group is making me broke. :-D Or maybe I should say broke-er.

I can't get enough of the new Imagine Dragons album. ALL of the songs are so good. Love The Lumineers, too.
If you like Mumford & Sons, I always recommend my absolute favorite band The Avett Brothers. :-)

Use Spotify! You can even get the premium service (no ads) free for 30 days. :-)
This really was an excellent idea!
Thank you for mentioning Mumford and Sons, Karen and Josh! And thank you for talking about Imagine Dragons, Joe and Valerie! I haven't ever heard about these bands before, but I've been browsing their songs on YouTube today and I like what I hear! :-)

I've also tweaked out my iMac, so that I can see the spotify song on my desktop and not have to open it. I also like that at $9.99 a month I can listen to it everywhere without ads.
I'll also check out The Avett Brothers. I'm listening to these bands for something I'm writing. Thanks for the suggestions.

Make my limit low or I'll never pay it off. :-D

The lyric:
(view spoiler)
Doesn't it describing Jake in Dark Tide so perfectly? *sniff* I imagine the scene where Adrien and Jake made love every time I listen to the song.
I was listening to Stay by Rihanna and it made me think of Jake and Adrien. It reminds me of their roller coaster love affair.... how Jake found it hard to be true to himself... and how all along all they really wanted was to be together. I think the lyrics can be interpreted many ways, but to me they're about struggling to stay with the person you love through the ups and downs.
I think the music is fitting to the lyrics, and I always love when music and lyrics support each other equally.

I have to listen to that again. I missed the lyrics. She's distractingly pretty, isn't she? :-)

I looked up the lyrics and was going to post them, but I thought it might be annoying and take up too much space. :-)
So, I've been thinking about a classical song that I could say encompasses the theme of this book. Well, I think Ouvre ton coeur could be a good match. I love Bizet and this is an art song, so a little easier to digest than opera and the lyrics are beautiful:La marguerite a fermé sa corolle,
L'ombre a fermé les yeux du jour.
Belle, me tiendras-tu parole?
Ouvre ton coeur à mon amour.
Ouvre ton coeur, ô jeune ange, à ma flamme,
Qu'un rêve charme ton sommeil.
Je veux reprendre mon âme,
Comme une fleur s'ouvre au soleil!
English translation
The daisy has closed its flowery crown,
Twilight has closed the eyes of day,
My lovely beauty, will you keep your word?
Open your heart to my love.
Open your heart to my desire, young angel
So that a dream may charm your slumber
I wish to take back my soul
As a flower opens to the sun!
ETA: A better translation.

There is such good music here! Wow. My bill for reading this page did just creep into double digits. Thanks to Josh and all the rest of you for sharing. I love it!:)
I wanted to give away iTunes playlists but it turns out iTunes doesn't do that anymore!
Isn't that crazy?
I did list the playlist on Spotify, I think, but I really don't care for Spotify.
