Proud Of It! discussion

i like GR...O.o

I'm kind of bothered by the bookshelf in this group... This group is called "Proud Of It", right? It's about being proud of being who you are, no matter who you are, correct?

Then, why are there only books about homosexuality? Surely, there are not only gays in this group. And alas, the books defy the whole purpose of the group, wouldn't you agree?

Mm, maybe some in the genres of self-confidence, religion, ethnicity, race, etc.

The Color Purple by Alice Walker for example, or Redeeming love by Francine Rivers (I'm just picking a christian book because that's what I am). Wintergirls sounds pretty emotional, too. Marchello in the Real World by Francisco X. Stork is another one. There are so many books about accepting and loving who you are out there, it's incredible!

I just want everyone to do one thing, I want you to look at a photo that was taken 11-12 months ago and now look at a photo that was taken in the last week or two. I bet you won't believe your eyes how you have changed, changed as a person besides looks. I bet you didn't realize that you changed over a year without even realizing it. 10 minutes ago, I looked at a photo that was taken 11 months ago and then a photo that was taken last week. I couldn't believe my eyes how different I look and then it made me realize that I also changed to a better person. Just thought I should share that :)

I have a memoir about growing up adopted and how shameful that used to be. Then I searched and found birth fam. I have a prominent "gay" character in this story, so it isn't really a gay book, but is about different ways to come out and accept yourself. Make sense?
