Robert E. Howard Readers discussion

I read Almuric a couple of months ago (for the first time) and thought it might make a good topic for discussion.
Please feel free to discuss Almuric and any of it's plot points in this thread. Anyone who has not read Almuric yet I suggest a quick look at the other (spoiler free) thread!

The first thing that strikes me about the book is how similar the transport to the new planet is to what John Carter went through.
