Hungry for change

Lisa and I watched this recently. It's one of those "Your food is poisoning you! Read the ingredient list! Get healthy!" type of movies. It, however, is really practical and doesn't have the "extreme" nature of a 'No Impact Man' or 'Vegucated.'

I think this will be a good one for discussion too, once we are in the mood for this topic.

Lisa (lisak924) | 13 comments I did like this documentary, but I also found it lacking. It went into no real depth. Many of those interviewed in this documentary have already made their own about their personal experience (Joe from Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead and the chick from Crazy, Sexy Diet). I think they may have collaborated to make this documentary as an ad for their own documentaries. It worked though. Now I want to watch the others to get more in depth "how-to" in eating better.

LuAnn | 61 comments Larry has suggested http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2141589/p... AGE OF CHAMPIONS

message 18: by Joe (new)

Joe | 5 comments You guys should watch Brooklyn Castle. It follows students on the chess team at a brooklyn school. this school has around 70% of their students living below the poverty line. Despite this their chess team is one of the best in the country. Even though it follows the students, it ties it to the importance of keeping schools programs funded. Excellent documentary, worth a watch.

LuAnn | 61 comments As much as TLC's Extreme Christmas Trees interests me, perhaps we should consider one of these other Christmas documentaries in an effort to draw some new members...thoughts??

"Becoming Santa" and "The Monastery" are both available on Netflix.

I'm down with either, but would lean towards "Becoming Santa."

people might break up as friends if we watch this :)

message 45: by Natalie (new)

Natalie Nash | 48 comments So I'm thinking... With every documentary we watch, we are usually upset about the lack of an answer to the problem. Maybe at the end of the year we should look back at all of the documentaries that we've watched and pick the one that affected us most. We then could either pledge to donate X amount of dollars or X amount hours cumulatively to the one that had the most impact for us as a group and that way we could hopefully be part of the solution and not just sitting around talking about the problem.
