Isfand (isfand) | 2 comments I'm reading Catch 22 by Joseph Heller, it's a (really) funny, weird and unique book so far. It was added by the New York Times in the list of the best books of the 20th century.

Esam | 1 comments Thank you for the wake up call Paras. I am one of those Karachiites of the spirit who lives many shores away. Currently, reading James Herriot's "All Creatures Big and Small".

Omar Hayat (OmarHayat) | 7 comments Hi all. I am currently reading Centennial by James A. Michener. Its my first rendezvous with Michener actually, and so far, it seems to be a brilliantly woven epic of sorts. However, its a long way to go yet.

Waqas Mhd (waqasmhd) | 9 comments No, in fact I feel like reading a lot but not getting enough time. As I said I m currently reading Gone Girl and its too good to put down but I don't have enough time to read it.

I think its stress... but i like the suggestion of not seeing law n order rerun from bookslut [in my case, supernatural] also, I miss having a real book in hand. I am in UAE and all I brought was kindle.

btw waqas, gone girl is interesting enough.. i remember reading it, I didnt wanted to give it up

message 12: by Waqas (new)

Waqas Mhd (waqasmhd) | 9 comments Yes its interesting specially the notes of Amy. But you did eventaully give up on Gone Girl? due to stress? hmm. I don't plan to give it up anytime soon.

I didn't read that article in bookslut because i didn't have to but its good u found it useful.

(Un)fortunately i don't have e-reader yet but I am planning to get one. I think I won't miss pb/hb. I am all for technology. Doesn't UAE have some book shop/thelay walas where they sell old second hand books?

message 13: by Asif (new)

Asif | 6 comments someone here said catch 22 is a good book....i need a book after my finals in april...is it worth it? and im a more of non fiction kind of person..is it fiction or non fiction?....anymore recommendations?

message 14: by Isfand (new)

Isfand (isfand) | 2 comments I've read the first 100 pages and it has been a great read so far. It's fiction but it's about the Second World War so you should learn a lot of non-fiction facts too. For further recommendations check my all time favourite book 'shelf' on my profile.

@waqas
No thelewalas, sadly. I found a few 2nd hand books but werent interested in them. luckily my roomate is a huge reader. [un]fortunately she is more of a nonfiction person. I need fiction to get me going. But looks like the craving for some real good noir fiction is setting up in me so I might get back to reading.

I never gave up on Gone Girl. I remember I couldnt give up the book. One of the best book from last yr. If you like this, I'll suggest u read defending jacob too.

@Asif
Since Isfand is reading this book, he can tell you more. I read some pages ages back and left it so I cant comment much but I have vague remembrance that there were second world war facts.

Can you tell what specific area are u looking recommendation in within non fiction? Your fav shelf look more into self growth books.

message 17: by Waqas (new)

Waqas Mhd (waqasmhd) | 9 comments @Paras- Gone Girl is pretty awesome. seriously. i've done 53% of it and its still pretty solid.

i like fiction mostly too. in non-fiction i try to read history only.

@Asif- yeah share your area of interest. i can mostly (read only) recommend history books.
