Ari's hand fiddled with a piece of her hair. She sighed silently as she slumped near one of the booths. She wanted ADAM, but she needed so badly to stay away from it. She gripped her hair in her hands, closed her eyes, and counted to ten. She bit her lower lip so hard it started to bleed. This was all part of her process to quit ADAM. Her eyes flew open as she heard a sound. She peeked out from behind a booth, staring at a young man walking around with a pipe. She gripped onto one of her daggers, hoping this would not result in a fight. The man's weapon looked lethal, and it would be best not to stand between him and some ADAM--wherever it might be. She slowly stood, trying to keep steady even though her knees felt weak. She locked her eyes on the pole, instead of on the man's mask. She wasn't wearing a mask herself, because the damage was mostly on her torso. She did have her mask tucked away in her bag, though. "Hello." She called out. "Don't hurt me. I don't have ADAM."
"Arianna." The girl replied swiftly and quickly. "If you plan on getting to know me, call me Ari." She flicked her hand across her knife, but it was only a slight, unnoticable movement. "What's yours?" She sounded only slightly interested.
Ari flicked her hair behind her shoulder in one swift movement. Her squinting eye twitched slightly. "Hello, Warren." She tilted her head. "You need ADAM." She noted. "Or, at least, want it. I'll help you find some." She glanced up, half-way smirking. "I won't take any from you." She promised, making an 'x' over her heart with her index finger. "Cross my heart. I'm trying to quit, before my addiction gets any worse. ADAM made me kill my family, so I have to quit." It was necessary to inform Warren of this, for people were very untrusting these days.
Scarlet wandered inside of Ryan Amusements. She turned her head from side to side as she searched the area for Splicers. She let the needle strapped to her arm drag along the ground as it to startle things to life with its metallic sound. The rods and joints on her legs creaked as she walked forward, her red stare sweeping across the area.
"Because I have nothing better to do." Ari answered sharply, then shook her head. "I would also like to know if I can withstand my want for ADAM. I will help you, and it will help the both of us." Ari locked her hands behind her back, then tilted her head. It took her a second the recognize the creaking sound of a Big Sister's metal suit. She glanced at Warren, wondering if he heard the same thing. "Big sister." She whispered, backing away slowly.
Scarlet turned a corner not far from Warren and Ari. She lifted her arm so the needle wouldn't scrape against the ground anymore and she stopped in her tracks, catching movement from the corner of her eye. Her head turned and she stared in the Splicers direction intently.
Ari stopped cold, fumbling for her dagger. She glanced at Warren out of the corner of her eye. "We need to run." She mouthed, waiting for his imput. She slowed her breathing until she was completely still, unable to be heard. She had not been encounter with a Big Sister is some time. This would end in a very interesting way.,
Scarlet took a few slow steps, the joins around her legs creaking as she walked. Her head tilted slightly and she stopped again, just watching. She simply stood there, waiting. It had been forever since she had encountered a Splicer or really anything else down here and she was extremely curious.
Scarlet's gaze snapped right to Warren and Ari when she heard a board creak. She raised her arm with the large needle and then leaned forward before running. The red light inside her helmet glowed stronger as she saw a girl stumble from the hiding place and a boy behind her. Splicers. Rage and adrenaline shot through her body and her eyesight sharpened.
Ari felt a push on her back, and she stumbled out in front of the Big Sister. She saw the Big Sister better now, it and all of it's suit. She grabbed Warren's hand and began to sprint. As she tugged him along, she slowly let go of him so that she could gain speed. Her legs hurt as she ran faster, then she whipped her head around to see if Warren was following her. "You seem to know this place better than I do." She said, slowing to push him in front of her, roughly. "So, you take the lead." She fell in right on his heels, then sighed. I guess we'll have to use the strategy, fight or flight. Ari thought with a touch of bitterness.
Ari hooked her arm and turned the corner after Warren. Oh, I'll keep up. She thought. She ran right on his heels. Resisting the urge to look over her shoulder, she rolled her eyes. Looking behind you slows you down. She reminded herself mentally. Ari could hear the 'clink' of the metal suit as the Big Sister ran. SHe shook out her long, blonde hair, sticking out her tongue. Even though teasing wasn't there best option, it might be a little fun. She glanced over her shoulder at the Big Sister. "What? Are you gonna be outrun by two teeny-weeny Splicers?" She stuck her tongue out, then pushed Warren lightly. "Get ready fro the sprint of you life."
A sick smile spread of Scarlet's face when the two Splicers began to run. She sprinted after them, gaining speed quickly and coming up on their tails. They turned sharply on a right corner and Scarlet knew she wouldn't make the turn. She took the next right and ran faster, her boots beating against the ground loudly. She turned another right corning and skidded to a halt as she looked down the way the Splicers were, cutting them off.
Ari skid to a stop, her eyes following up the Big Sister. "Fight or Flight?" She said, raising her eyebrows at Warren. She tapped the two daggers that were stuck in her waistban. She had a gun, but she was almost positive it was out of ammo. If they fought, it would have to be close combat. Close combat could be deadly with a Big Sister. Actually anything could be deadly with a Big Sister. Even something silly, like dancing or eat popcorn.
Scarlet watched them skid to a halt. She bent her legs slightly and then sprang forward, sprinting toward the two Splicers, her needle readied to take the spare ADAM from them. She raised her free hand toward the two Splicers, ready to use a plasmid.
Ari nodded, unsheathing both of her daggers. She decided to use the sharpest two. Her heart pounded, and blood roured inside of her ears. Even though, she was scared out of her wits, deep inside of her, she thought this was great fun. She fell into footstep just behind Warren, her daggers raised. "For," She was about to call a battle cry, when she drew apon a blank. What was she to cry out? She had nothing to cheer apon. She sighed, and continued. "For our ever so dear lives!" She decided, then laughed. This was going to be interesting.
Scarlet charged down the narrow walkway, the needle in her hand scraped up against the building loudly. Her boots slammed against the ground as she ran headlong toward the Splicers, sending pebbles and some small cracks into the blacktop. She heard the girl cry something out, but she couldn't quite make out what it was, not like she really even cared. All she cared about at this point was killing the two Splicers and taking their ADAM.
Ari glanced at Warren. "I'll come at it from behind. I don't think it can fight both of us at the same time." She said, then charged toward the big sister. She slipped under it's metal suited legs, her body kicking up dirt. She coughed, and wiped her face with her sleeve as she stood up. She smiled. "COme and get us." She said the words slowly and evenly, as if they were a challenge. With both daggers out, Ari smiled. She would use the gun if she had to. Only if she had to.
Scarlet skidded to a halt as she saw Ari sliding beneath her. Before she was completely stopped, she turned on her heels and swung a metal plated arm at the same level that Ari's head would be. Their taunts were starting to get annoying. Splicers nowadays were boastful and no longer like rats.
Ari ducked under the Big Sister's arm. "Oops, you missed me!" She joked, jabbing her dagger forward. "Sure as heck, I'm not gonna' miss any hits of mine." She said, giving a punch to the Big Sister's stomach. She retracted her hand, cradling it. "Okay. I'm not gonna do that again." She said, holding her hand. It was throbbing and turning red. Note: Don't punch someone with armor on. She dove, trying to jab her dagger in a link in the Big Sister's armor.
Scarlet looked down at the place where Ari punched her and then looked at Ari, tilting her head slightly. She took the moment where Ari was distracted by her throbbing hand to land a blow on her arms hard enough to knock the dagger from her hand. There was a loud metallic clang when a pipe was hit against her helmet. She blinked a few times and then shook her head as if to clear it. She turned and looked at Warren, opening her left palm. The plasmid was ready. A spark ignited in her palm and she grinned.
Ari fell to the ground, cradling her arm. Ouch. She snuck a look at her arm. It was already bruised. Not a good sign. She grit her teeth, and stood. Tears perked at the edge of her vision, as pain overcame her. She limped her way to her daggers, and picked them up slowly. Just as she was getting up, she saw the Big Sister aiming at Warren. "No! Warren! WAtch out." She ran for the Big Sister, biting the inside of her cheek until she felt the salty taste of blood as she lifted her daggers. "No!" She yelled again, then jumped. She latched her arms onto the Big Sister's suit. She hung on, then dug her dagger into the arms to keep a good grip. All she had to do was find on piece of exposed skin.
Scarlet shot a blast of fire at Warren and then was suddenly off balance because of added weight on her back. She cried out in rage and reached behind her to try and grab Ari. When she couldn't grab a hold of the girl, she turned and smashed her back up against the the wall behind her before taking a step forward and almost falling back again into the wall to get Ari to let go.
Ari felt herself get crushed against the wall. "I'm never letting go." She cringed as she breathed. One of her ribs must have broken. Joy. SHe pushed herself up more and bit her lip so hard it started to bleed. She scanned the armor for any crack. Any exposing skin. Any weakness she could use against the Big Sister. She spotted a small area of skin exposed just beneight the helmet. Perfect! She thought, as she started to climb up the Big Sister with her weary bones. Well, broken bones.
Scarlet felt Ari start to climb up higher. She slammed once more into the wall and felt Ari's legs crushed up against her back. She reached her arms up again and caught a hold of Ari's hair with one hand that was still burning hot from using a plasmid and pulled hard.
Scarlet let out a yell of frustration when she was hit in the head by the metal pipe. There was ringing in her ears and she used her rising anger to rip Ari from her back and onto the ground. She turned and looked at Warren when he hit her in the back. She cracked her neck and then opened her palm again, electricity sparking to life in her hand. She shot it at his pipe, hitting her mark and watched the electricity travel to Warren.
Ari felt her hair singe. She grit her teeth as she was dropped to the ground. She pushed herself up, tears springing in her eyes. She jumped onto the Big Sister once more. She grabbed her knife, and made a bee-line for the exposed skin on the Big Sister's neck. She stabbed her dagger into the skin multiple times. "Go away before I kill you. I will kill you slowly and painfully for hurting Warren and me." She growled into the Big Sister's ear. She hurt like crazy. She probably had two some-what broken legs that made it hard to do simple things like stand and walk, pulled and singed hair, a broken rib, a crushed hand, and many other things. She still pushed one and kept stabbing the Big Sister over and over.
A scream erupted from Scarlet's throat, loud, high pitched, and ear splitting. She felt sharp pains where Ari was stabbing her and the light in her helmet glowed even brighter than before. "No, you don't!" she yelled, her voice only slightly muffled because of her helmet. She grabbed a hold of Ari's hair again and powered the electricity in her palm up again and hauled Ari off of her back, a knife still lodged inside of her. She tossed Ari onto the ground a good yard away and then slumped slightly. There was blood dripping from her and onto the ground. She had gotten one of the Splicers down and the other one was pretty beat up. That was good enough for her. It wasn't worth her own death if that meant the Splicers got away. She walked up to Ari before giving her a swift kick in the ribs and sprinting down the alleyway.
Ari gripped her stomach, the metal toe of the suit connecting with her alredy broken rib. Ouch! She though, numbly. She layed on the ground, one eye open. She heard (and saw) the Big Sister run away. She did it. She defeated a Big Sister--with the help of Warren. This diserves and victory dance-- too bad she was in to much pain to do one. She lay crumpled on her side for several minutes. She pushed herself up, cringing. Even trying to breath hurt. She tried to take a deep breath before standing, but that only ended in a splutter of coughs. She doubled over, blood bubbling up her throat. It spilled out of her mouth and onto the ground. Gross. She glanced over at Warren, who was electricuted. That pushed her to her feet. She ran, tears pouring down her cheeks from the pain of each steps. "No! Warren! Are you okay? The Big Sister left!" She yelled, holding her rib cage. It felt like every bone in her body was broken--which it was probably close to happening. "Don't die! I won't find a partner and lose 'em all in one fight!!"
Ari winced as she stopped. She gripped her rib cage, panting hard. She looked at him, narrowing her eyes, "I'll be fi-," She was cut off by a splutter of cough, then more blood errupting from her throat. A frown appeared on her face as some of the blood splattered onto wWarren's shoes. She tried to sound stronger as she straightened up, but was in vain. "Maybe not fine. Just okay." She mumbled, then tried to laugh. She doubled over from the sharp pain her rib cage. Let's not try to laugh again. She looked at him. "How bad's your damage?" She asked weakly.
