Running at the gym is a lot of fun for me, so reading and imagining the running in the wilderness and desert is also really neat.

Does anyone also run,a mile is as far as i get, at the gym and like the scenes in the wild while jogging?
Hopefully you'll get to run in such places some day. I really enjoyed reading that book; and after having read it (a year plus ago) I've been running at least twice a week since. Running is a beautiful thing; my favourite route is the river. Only do 5km and am not particularly fast--but the beauty of running is that it really doesn't matter, because both time & distance will improve with time anyway. Also does wonders for your heart: my resting heart rate was 75 a few months ago, now it's down to 35-40. Keep at it, my friend! :-)
I love running in the outdoors. Indoors or a track would never keep me running. At 61 I do about 80 miles a month (looking like less this year because of recuperation from a fall I took on a 10 mile trail race. I use and like New Balance Minimist shoes but I am sure no type of shoe is right for everyone. The book was interesting to me for the crazies & the anthropology of running.
i like the book they are good running. i love to run used to up in 100+ ml a week don't run much now lower back keep going out.

I am a 'wrunner' - a writer/runner with 3+ novels and 50+ marathons. Born To Run is a great book, in part due to its portrayal of how running is part of our nature. And I agree with all the comments about running outdoors - time seems to slow down when running on a treadmill. Cheers!
Great book. I love the look at both extreme distance running and the Indian tribe nobody seems to know about that run these distances as a hobby. I also love the idea that one guy built his life around running with the tribe and actually set up the race through shear force of personality. it is also sad to see the modern world creeping in on the tribe and the complexities that is changing their world and how the "modern" Indians lost the ability/ will to run like their more native brethren.
Yeah, it's fun and I've wanted to break into it but foot structure problems prevent me from it. That and an injury from my early 20s. :) But I loved the book and I've loved the runny I've done.
