My sister comes on here all the time. She messages her friend back and forth, writing their book. Obviously, i noticed it. I asked her about it and she answered, "Yeah, it's pretty cool." I looked it up, and immediately joined. At first, all i did was update what books i was reading. Then, i joined some groups, and here i am, in the first group i joined. Now i come on here all the time, and i've gotten at least 20 of the people at school to join, too.
I can't remember exactly how, but I think I was looking up books on google and kept coming across this site. It looked interesting so I decided to join and that's basically it xD
Mine isn't very interesting. I wanted a website to talk about books on, since I wasn't aloud to get a Tumblr until I was 14. I asked around the internet and everyone suggested I visit Goodreads. I got an account at 13, a year and a half ago. However, I hardly ever came on for the first year. I only joined one group and wrote a few reviews, even though I was really sucky at it at first. Then, this summer, I got more into it and joined more groups and wrote better reviews and started to write my stories on here too. Now I'm addicted! :)
Mine is very similar to Alyssa.I keep searching for the next books in series I liked and when they would come out, and I always ended up on Goodreads.
I eventually decided to make an account...
It took me a few months to find this website. I originally was looking for an onnline book-club that was free, etc, and I couldn't find the right one. I desperately wanted to find a place where I can talk to people about books...and I thought no one does that. But I haven't lost hope, and luckily with some keywords, I found this site. And opened up an account, absolutely loved it, and use it every day. :)
My friend from another school mentioned t to me one day (we talk about books a lot) and asked me to join her new group. So I made an account and joined her group but wasn't an active member of the Goodreads community until a couple weeks later when I had to time fiddle around and explore. Now I absolutely love it and am practically NEVER off haha. All of my friends look at me like I'm crazy when I gush about how awesome this site is <3
I heard it from my favorite youtuber Christine (aka Polandbananabooks) She reviews books on her side channel and she had a goodreads and I wanted to be her friend!
My Language Arts teacher makes all of his students have an account.
But that's okay, I can talk to other fangirls :]

I think I was looking up a book review or maybe I was just trying to find more books to read. Anyways, when I found GR, I saw that it could suggest books for you and it like, amazed the crap out of me so I joined it last year at the beginning of the summer :) From there, I discovered groups like this and now, I'm addicted. More addicted than ever. Like seriously. GR is apart of my life now.

Two of my friends told me about it :) I made an account but it wasn't until several months later that i actually started using it haha
Simple. I search a few books reviews, at first im not really interested. But dont know why, it caught my interest to join it last may,so here i am now
I was looking up Wither by Lauren Destefano because I LOVE THAT SERIES!! And goodreads popped up. I clicked on it and got an account

A friend told me about it and at the time I wasn't allowed on the Internet because I had "misbehaved" on it (I was only 11) but I went on anyway and got a goodreads account. At school a lot of my friends were using it because a teacher had told them about it, so I told my parents that it was "educational" and they let me have one even though I made one without telling them. :P Then even after I got my internet privileges back, I still came on here. The first few months I didn't come on much, though... :)
What about you?? :)
