Aly saw Gage walking quite a ways in front of her. She was running to catch up with him, he was a fast walker. "Gage! Gage, please wait up?" she slightly shouted when she was closer to him.
Gage turned around at her and gave her an easy half smile, "Your right, your parents sound awesome." He said sarcastically.
Her face heated back up again and her heart started pounding in her chest, "I'm so sorry. I had no idea my father would do that..." she trailed off she was so flustered she had never been more embarrass in her life.Aly bit her lower lip and started twirling her hair.
Aly looked up at him, "I guess we both have awesome parents, don't we? Do...you still need help?"She added the last bit hopefully.
"I think I'm just collecting stray golfballs right now. You can help me if you want" Gage shrugged one shoulder and gave her his signature smirk.
"Okay, sounds...fun?" she grinned back at him. She kinda felt like a little kid hunting Easter eggs. Which was funny since it was actually Easter. She laughed lightly to herself.
Aly giggled at him and jokingly said, "I can tell you're just so enthusiastic about it! Ohhh! If there is a golf cart involved, can I drive?" She wiggled her eyebrows at him and walked to the side, "Oh look, I found one already."
Gage waved the golf cart keys in front of her teasingly before pulling them alway, "Only employees and drive them, or the golfers, You're neither, therefore I get to drive."
Aly narrowed her eyes playfully, and snatched the keys from Gage right before he put them fully away. She jiggled them in front of him teasingly, "Yes, but I now have the keys, so therefore I guess I can drive."She stuck her tongue out at him before running to the golf cart while laughing.
Gage ran up behind and grabbed her around the waist, lifting her up and spinning her around with him. While she was distracted, he grabbed the keys back and held onto them tight. "Looks like you're out of luck." He said before putting her down
Aly gasped when he put her back down, her heart was hammering in her chest. She turn around and looked at him, her sapphire blue eyes filled with laughter. "It seems so..." she replied breathlessly.
Smiling, Gage walked to the golf cart and climbed into the drivers seat, he waited for Aly to climb in also.
Aly walked over to the passenger side and hopped in as she jokingly said, "Okay Jeeves, where to now?"
"Okay...I think we should have a competition! Whoever collects the most stray golf balls wins! Ohh, and the winner wins a prize of their choice. Are you in?" Aly smiled cheekily as challenged him.
"Ok, I'm in." Gage said driving down a grassy hill and stopping beside the pond. "But you're at a bit of a disadvantage, I know all the places the gold balls tend to land."
"I'll take my chances, I'm pretty fast, and clever I might add. So what are the prizes going to be? I think it would be more motivation if we know what we're playing for," Aly grinned, this was going to be fun.
"Deal. Although, you'll have to show me where those places are. I haven't been yet." Aly laughed at herself, and her horrible direction skills. Aly felt the golf cart stopped and her eyes landed on a big group of stray golf balls. She quickly grabbed a bucket and ran as fast as she could over to them...they never said head starts weren't allowed.
"Cheater! We didn't say Go!" Gage called before going over to the pond and emptying the automatic gold ball collector that sucked all the golf balls out of the pond. His bucket was already half full. "How's it going?" He called going over to a big shrub, which always had lots of golf balls around it.
Aly laughed and started to answer when she seen it. A golf ball whizzing in a b-line right for Gage's head. She dropped her bucket and ran towards him. She tackled him to the ground, landing on top off him, just before the ball would have hit him...
"What the Hell Aly?" Gage said gasping for air, the wind having been knocked out of him, "Jeez girl, if you wanted on top of me, you could of just asked." He said a playful smile on his face,
Aly's face turned beet red and she began stuttering, "Wha-, You..I..!" she took a deep breath and tried again, "I saved you from making out with a golf ball, you jerk." She returned his playful smile with one of her own.
"Your face is as red as a tomato." Gage informed her as he looked up at her from his spot on the putting green. "Maybe I like making out with golfballs, and you just ruined a moment?" Gage challenged
Aly rolled her eye at him and giggled, "I'm sure she's a real knockout, sorry I ruined your chance with her. I guess I'll just have to remember that the next time I save your life, mister."
"Don't worry, I was joking." Gage said, "I don't actually like balls." And yes the pun was intended.
Aly burst out into laughter, "Well I guess that is good for me...I mean good to know. That's good to know. That you don't like balls and all...I'm just going to shut up now..." She let her words trail off, trying not to embarrass herself further. Then she realized she was still on top of him, and her face turned red once again.
Gage laughed as he watched her stutter all over her words, when he finally calmed down his whispered, "Hey Aly, are you going to get off me now?" He raised a brow at her.
"I guess I just like being on top of you," Aly's jaw dropped, and if it was even possible her face became redder. She could not believe the words that just came out of her mouth. Not thinking she went to bury her face in her hands, only to realize it was his chest. She jerked her head up just in time for her nose to collide with his chin.
Gage was laughing so hard his ribs were starting to hurt. when her nose hit his chin it pulled him out of his laughing spell and he met her eyes before his eyes dropped to her mouth.
Aly's breath in her throat, her heart was racing fast within her chest. She saw his eyes gazing at her lips and she slightly moved forward.
Something snapped in Gage, like he was just now realizing what was happening and he sat up, bringing Aly with him. "Aly..." He didn't know what to say. yeah he wanted to kiss her but he didn't trust himself. He last relationship had ended really bad. He didn't want to go through that agian.
Aly scrambled off his lap, standing up and turning her back to him. How could she be so stupid? She had never felt rejection before, and honestly it sucked. As embarrassing at it was, Gage was almost her first kiss. At 18, Aly had never been in a relationship before. She had never found anyone she liked...well until now. But he didn't seem to feel the same way...and it hurt. She took a deep breath and blinked away the tears that had started forming in her eyes, "It's okay...I'm sorry...I," She stopped talking when her voice almost broke. "How could someone I just met have such an affect on me?" she thought helplessly to herself.
"Aly, trust me. I really wanted to but I just know if I can." Gage trailed off, "I had some stuff happen to me last year and I still haven't exactly gotten over it. I don't know if I ever will."Why did She have to go and ruin my life? he asked himself, as he allowed himself to remember what she did last year. He anxiously ran a hand through his hair from the memories.
Aly turned towards him, her arms were wrapped around her. She sighed, stepping closer to Gage and quietly replied, "I've never been in a relationship, so I can't say I know what you're going through. All that I can say, is I won't make the same mistakes as her, and I wouldn't hurt you like she did. It's not fair to let me pay for her mistakes...I'm not her..." She bit her lip, she didn't know what else to say. She just hoped that her words didn't make him push away even more.
Sighing, Gage pulled a worn out picture out of his wallet and handed it to Aly, "Her is name, well was, Willow. She and I started dating Junior year of High school and were together till last year. Towards the end of senior year she started to become obsessive with me and really clingy, two things I really hate." He paused, "So, I ended things during the summer after graduation. She didn't take it well. She didn't understand that we were over. It took two months for her to understand. And when she finally did, she hung herself. In her note, she said for everyone to Blame Gage for her death. That he broke her heart and her soul. Her family was furious at me and like Willow told them too, they blamed me. My dad paid them a massive sum of money to leave Immortal beach. I get the occasional letter from the family, they all say the same thing, how they still blame me." Willow:(view spoiler)["br"]>["br"]>
Aly didn't think, she just wrapped her arms around Gage. She felt horrible, how could he have endured so much in his life? She felt her heart breaking for him, it wasn't his fault. Not in the slightest. What Willow did, she did because she was selfish! She looked up at him, and pleaded with him to listen to her silently with her deep sapphire eyes, "Gage, it wasn't your fault. What she did wasn't your fault. Carrying around her picture...carrying around this guilt isn't healthy. And it's not fair to yourself. Her family is stupid to blame you, if anything they should blame themselves! They were supposed to take care of Willow, not you." Aly didn't know how Gage would react to her hugging him, she prayed it didn't make him mad. She just felt the need to comfort him...
Gage stiffened at first when she hugged him, but he slowly started to relax, "I carry the picture around as a reminder that bad things happen when I love someone or let myself be loved."
Aly frowned, how could he think that? She put her hand on his cheek and looked in his eyes, "Gage...that's not true. You can't let yourself believe that. Everyone deserves love, especially you! When Willow died no one cared how you felt, she was selfish. She wanted you to feel pain, she wanted you to hurt, she didn't care about you. But you don't deserve that...you deserve so much better." She bit her lip.
Aly couldn't help her blush, even though it wasn't really a compliment. She thought it was sweet, wrong but sweet. Gage deserved some good in his life, after all that he'd been through. "You deserve happiness too, you deserve something good in your life." she noticed her hand was on his cheek and she lowered down to her side.
"The only good thing I've ever had in my life was my sister." Gage said, his voice raspy with emotion. Payton was the only thing had truly loved. She was the most important thing to him. "But I think I've found something else good." He said before lightly kissing her forehead.
Aly felt her heart melt. Gage seemed so hardened most of the time. But he had these moments when he opened up, that just took her breath away. She smiled at him, Aly enjoyed this side of Gage. "Is that so?" she asked cheekily, as her eyes met his.
That was the first actual smile she had seen on Gage, she was right smiles looked good on him. "I didn't knnow you were having a party," she smiled back at him.
Aly giggled, she was impressed, "Wow, that must be nice. My grandparents tried to throw me party once...they thought it would be great to have clowns, and pony rides. Among other things. I was touched that they actually tried, but all of the 17 year olds that came left. And all the clowns got drunk and started making out with the ponies..."
