When Damon and his new friend Ellen arrived at the Beach Cafe, they had no problems getting a table. The place wasn't packed, but it wasn't empty either. A waiter walked up and handed them their menus, "What can I get you to drink?"
"I'll take a strawberry lemonade, and my date..." Damon trailed off when he realized he called Ellen his date, he hoped it didn't freak her out.
"I'll just take a coke." Ellen smiled at the waiter. She seemed to have just shrugged off being called his date, but in reality her heart skipped a beat, if not several. She had to fight off the feeling to show how giddy she was on the inside.
Damon made an inward sigh of relief, the last thing he wanted to was upset his new girlfriend. Friend that was a girl, he corrected. He hoped she didn't notice him blushing...He cleared his throat and looked down at his menu, "So uh, see anything that looks good?"
"I think the fish would be good. Shrimp is one of my favorites." Ellen replied. She was too engrossed in her menu to notice him blushing, and her cheeks were a bit pink too.
Damon mused thoughtfully, "I've never been one for seafood myself. I'm more of a traditional beef, and pork sort of guy. I'm thinking the bacon cheeseburger, you can never go wrong with a bacon cheeseburger."
"Sure." he smiled up at her.Perfect timing to, because the waiter had just come back with their drinks, "Here you go, one strawberry lemonade and one coke. Are you guys ready to order, or do you need some more time?"
"Oh, I think we're ready. I'll take the bacon cheeseburger and fries," he then waited for Ellen to order.
"I'll try the sauteed shrimp." Ellen smiled at the waiter and handed him her menu now that she was done with it.
Once the waiter was gone Damon turned towards Ellen, "So what made you choose Immortal Beach? I'm actually surprised my parents chose this place. They love cities, and hate beaches...though I'm glad they did..."
"Well it's the least crowded beach that my parents own a beach house near. Other than that, I didn't have much of a reason." Ellen responded. Her heart rate had settled and she was able to think clearly now.
"Well I guess it was just luck then, or maybe fate, that brought us together. Who knew I would meet my very first friend here. As sad as that sounds, the first friend part of it, I'm glad we're friends," Damon gave Ellen a dazzling smile. He was fighting off a blush, what was it about her that made him blush so much?
"Me too. And thanks, It's really nice to hear that from you." Ellen was already flustered, but his smile caused her to blush and she couldn't help but wonder why he made her feel that way.
"You're very welcome...so tell me something about yourself?" Damon caught her blush and grinned wider, he wasn't the only one.
"Well..." Ellen had to pause for a minute to get her head on straight. "I'm a violinist, but it's more of a hobby than anything else."
"Really? I'm a pianist! I've played since I was five. I've always wanted to learn to play the violin though," Damon beamed at her, he loved that they had something in common.
Ellen laughed at his dopey grin. "I don't think I'm that good though, you'd probably be better than me."
"Oh, I doubt that! You're probably better than me! Maybe we could play for each other one day?" Damon smiled at her."Here is your food, a bacon cheeseburger basket for you. And sauteed shrimp basket for you miss," the waiter winked at Ellen.
Damon frowned and replied stiffly, "Thank you, I think we could use some refills..."
"Why not? We could have a prize for whoever is better." Ellen fought off the urge to roll her eyes and completely ignored the waiter. He wasn't the person she was talking to anyway.
Damon smiled at her as the waiter walked off with their drinks. "That sounds like a great idea, I'm sort of competitive though." he jokingly warned her.
"Oh really? Then I'll crush you to bits and scatter your remains in hell where they'll burn a fiery death." Ellen said sweetly with a pleasant smile. She was also very competitive.
"As always. It's the price you pay for growing up with older brothers." Ellen shrugged with a smile.
"I have four older brothers. It's like being in a circus, growing up with them. I also have a younger brother and a younger sister. They're adorableness is only skin deep."
"Wow...I just have one brother, he's my twin. Other than that it's just our parents. Your house must be crazy!" Damon smiled at her, "How's your food?"
"It taste like an incredibly awesome bacon cheeseburger. Like I said you can never go wrong with a bacon cheeseburger." Damon grinned back at her, then jumped when his phone started vibrating. He had gotten a text from his twin Carver, telling him about a yacht party this Friday ((There really is a party on here this Friday lol)). He looked up at Ellen, he wondered what she would say if he asked her...
Ellen looked up from her shrimp midbite when she noticed Damon looking at her oddly. "What?" She asked with a little laugh. "Do I have food on my face?"
"Umm...my brother just told me there's going to be a big yacht party on Friday. He's excited about it, he's already gotten himself a date..." Damon trailed of, should he ask her or not? He's never asked a girl out before and he was nervous about it. "Besides she could be busy Friday..." he lamely thought.
"Sounds like fun! Let's go!" Ellen didn't see the harm in going, besides, if his brother went out of his way to text Damon about the party, then he was obviously invited. It sounded like fun and it was something her parents probably wouldn't approve of. It was a double bonus.
Damon perked up, okay he could do this. He was going to ask her, it was easy. Okay, not so easy, it was nerve racking. But she already wanted to go with him...as friends. That's it, he was just going to ask, "Ellen, would you like to go...I mean you already said you wanted to go. But...I mean with me...not with me but with me?" he rubbed his forehead with his hand and tried again, "What I'm trying to ask is...will you be my date?"
Ellen heart pounded in her chest so loud she was afraid Damon could hear it. She was shocked and she had to remind herself to smile and respond. "I'd love too!" She almost shrieked with joy, but managed to tone it down to excitement.
A giant smile broke out on Damon's face, he couldn't believe she said yes! He was doing a goofy happy dance on the inside! "Really? That's wonderf...I mean that's great. I'm happ...I'm happy you said yes." A blush began to creep on his face, and he just grinned at her.
"Who wouldn't say yes? It sounds way better than my Friday plans that involved being locked up in my parents beach house." She put down her fork. "But I-I don't mean that going to the party with you would just be better than being bored. I-I mean i-it sounds like a lot of fun and I'd be there with you." Ellen got very flustered and her cheeks turned pink.
"Well I'm glad that I'm preferable to being locked in a lonely house." Damon teased her. The waiter came back with their drinks, and winked at Ellen. Damon locked his jaw but didn't say anything else. He really just wanted to punch the guy in the face.
Ellen turned and looked at the waiter and put on a sweet face. "I don't know whether you are thick or just plain stupid. Because I ordered a coke, not a pepsi." This was a total lie of of course, but she was getting annoyed. Not only was she showing no interest in the guy, but she was clearly interested in someone else.
Damon couldn't contain his laughter, the waiter's face was red, and he found it amusing. When the waiter run off with her drink, muttering his apology, Damon grinned at her. "So I'm excited for Friday." Damon beamed at her.
"Me too, what time is it at?" Ellen pulled out her phone pretending she was putting it into her calendar, but honestly she wouldn't need it because the time would be seared into her brain.
"Hmm...actually I'm not sure...I only know that it's on Friday. I should probably find out the time, huh?" Damon flushed, but laughed it off and smiled at her.
"Sounds great! Besides it's not a real party until we get there anyways!" Damon smiled at her and laughed.
"Hmm...yeah we probably should leave. Are you done?" Damon grinned over at her, he was wondering what was going through her mind.
"Yeah, let's go." Ellen stood up and glared at the waiter, then she smiled at Damon. "Well super best friend now date. We have a party we simply can't miss."
