Payton sat on the railing at the end of the pier. She wore a white and black bikini and her pink streaked hair was pulled into a ponytail. When the water was calm her friends and her would jump from the pier into the water. Today she was feeling risky and was thinking about jumping down alone.
"Hey girl," Payton said looking at her friend through her ray ban sunglasses. "What are you doing here?"
"It gets really boring around here during the rest of the year. I love summer because all my true friends come back," Payton said pushing a strand of hair out of her face after a gust of wind pushed it forward.
"I was thinking about it." Payton shrugged and looked down at the water. It was about a 30 foot drop from the railing to the water. The first time she had jumped she had been 12 years old. Her brother had to come out and drag her to shore after she got stuck in the current.
A minute later, Payton followed her friend into the water, landing a few feet away from Hally. "Crap! The water is so cold out this far."
((So I have an Idea, How about Liam and Payton used to be childhood friends/crushes but then he stopped coming to Immortal Beach and haven't talked in like five years? So they kind of reconnect?))
Payton, who was now laying on her back looking up at the pier noticed a familiar face. At first she couldn't believe what she was seeing. Liam. It may of been five years, but she would always be able to pick his face out of a crowd. He had changed so much in the past five years. He was taller and just over all bigger. She had been a disaster after he had left. They had used to be best friends then he had just left. Before she could stop herself, she called out to him, "Liam?"
"Ahh, So you do remember me." Payton smiled, "And you remember my middle name. Props to you." she said in a joking voice. She knew she had changed a lot in the five years he had been gone, the girl who still had a little baby fat on her and freckles had turned into a lean but curvy girl with tan clear skin.
"Yeah well a lot can change in Five years, Liam." Payton reminded him, pushing wet strands of pink and brown hair from her face. She also remembered having their milkshake contests when they were younger, she also remembered how they would feel sick the rest of the day after they did that. "I bet I could still beat you Liam." she smirked at him.
"Yeah that was disgusting." Once when they were eleven and twelve they had eaten so much marshmallow mint that they both had gotten sick on the beach. "So are you going to come down here and join me?" she asked, gesturing to the water. She was actually getting cold and would need to get out soon. The water this far out was a lot colder than it was near the shore.
"Yeah I'm turning into a icicle down here." Payton laughed as she started to paddle back towards shore. She was pretty far out donut would of taken a while for her to get to the sand. Luckily for her, a guy was out riding a jet ski and gave her a lift back.
'I'm not short, I'm fun sized." Payton said as she walked over to him. Part of her wanted to run to him and hug him but she was hesitant about it. She didn't really know him any more.
"I live here year round remember?" Payton asked as a group of her guy friends from school walked by and shouted her name. Payton waved at them and turned down their offer to go body surfing. Soon she returned her attention to Liam, "So why are you back? The last time I saw you, you were in the back of your parents car driving away. "
"Lucky, I still have a year left of school." Payton said as she reached for her bag that she left on the beach. She pulled out a white sheer like over sized shirt and pulled it on over her head. It hung off her right shoulder and hut her mid thigh. "how is your family?" Her voice was concerned
((Would she know about his brother's death? Was that before or after he left?))"Well hopefully you'll have a good summer here." Payton said as they walked towards the ice cream shop. "How are your siblings? I've missed them." but not as much as she had missed Liam. She had gone through a state of depression after he'd left, but she'd finally moved on with her life.
His last statement made her stumble and almost fall, but she caught her balance in time, "Oh my god, Liam." Finally doing what she'd wanted to since she first saw him, she wrapped her lean arms around him, "I'm so sorry." She whispered, she wasn't going to ask when or how he died yet. She knew that when Liam was ready he'd open up and tell her.
Sensing he was uncomfortable with her show of affection, Payton took a few steps away from him and mumbled an apology. Nick and her had never been close like she and Liam, but their families had spent a lot of time together and she had considered him a brother of sorts. "I'll pay for the ice cream. Consider it a welcome back present." Payton said trying to lighten the mood. As they walked, Payton could feel the eyes on them. She knew Liam was attractive and knew girls were staring at him. Payton shrugged it off and bit her bottom lip, a bad habit she had always had.
Payton shook her head, "Nope, This place doesn't ever change. Same stores, same restaurants and same people I've known for 17 years." Payton planned on leaving Immortal Beach the summer after she graduated. She was tired of her little town.
"I don't exactly have a choice. I would have no where else to go." Payton explained as they neared the ice cream shop.
((Sorry))Spencer held back so Hally could beat him, he was enjoying spending with her. "Hey wait up, Speedy Gonzales!"
"Yes, you did," he chuckled, when he realized she was in a bikini he gulped, "Um, nice swim suit, Hally."
Spencer sat on the ledge of the pier next to Hally, "Ready to do this?" he held his hand out to her.
Spencer screamed with her as they plummeted into the water below. They made a big splash as they hit the water. "Oh this is freezing!" he shouted as he come back up to the water's surface.
((yes, you post first?))Lacey shrugged, "Maybe one day I'll get too." she walked into the air conditioned shop and sighed, happy for the relief from the humid heat. "You ready for a milkshake competition?"
Blair walked down the Pier, they had only been in Immortal Beach for a few hours and she wanted to rip her hair out. Tiffany...or whatever her father's new flavor of the month's name was. Wanted girl bonding time...Blair not so much. Blair ditched her the first chance she got. Normally Blair wasn't so harsh, but what's her face was talking about marrying her father. That thought left a bad taste in Blair's mouth.
John sat on the edge kicking his feet off slightly, each swift move of her legs reminded him of soccer. it was all he could think about, that and his brother. Neither were going to hot right now. He kicked his feet hard and faster replaying one of the few games he lost. Fixing every detail, untill he lost. Even in his own head John couldn't win the game. He sighed back laying down as he noticed a girl walking up the pier.
Blair walked to the end of the pier and just stared off into space. She wondered how her mother would feel about what's her name. Sure, her father hadn't remarried, yet, and honestly Blair hoped he never did. If he found something like he shared with her mother, maybe she wouldn't mind so much. But his type curretly seemed to be gold diggers. Blair sighed. That's when she noticed the guy on the pier, she flushed. Blair had thought she was alone, she gave him a small smile.
John was laying on his back his feet limp off the edge. He may have not been actualy training but he had been going that for a few hours, and at this point he decided to allow them (his feet) a little break. A boyish grin was plastered on his face as he looked at Blair "Hi" he waved staying in his laying position.
Blair blushed slightly, "Umm, hello...how do you do?" Blair was a bit formal when she was nervous, or you first met her. She glance down at him, she could swear she had seen him before. She just couldn't place where she had seen him. It was going to bug her until she figured it out, so she hoped she figured it out soon.
"No need to be so formal, I don't bit" John grinned sitting up and facing her better "and Hi." he hated the way people could be so formal and tight, he was always the person who showed up to meetings and events in jeans and a shirt, nothing formal. He just could never seem to be mature enough for people who he just stopped trying.
"Hi," Blair repeated with a smile, "I'm you don't bite, I have this odd fear of strangers that bite." Blair turned towards him, and walked over to a nearby bench to sit down. She felt over dressed around him She was wearing a cute dress with some heels, while he was more casual. Blair looked over him with her greenish-blue eyes. He was quite handsome, he seemed to know it too. But not in a cocky sort of way, which was nice.
"Well then, then it's a good thing I stopped bitting a few months ago" John atempted a joke but realized be probably just sounded lame. He eyed her cautiously wondering if she could tell who he was, it wasn't that he just assumed everyone knew him, it just sort of happened a lot and he was only here to atempt to get away.
Blair rolled her eyes, and giggled at his joke. "Well, that will give you more time to work on your jokes." she told him cheekily. She still couldn't place him, it was driving her crazy. Silently huffing, she walked over to him an extended her hand, "I'm Blair, Blair Hastings." Hastings was a powerful name, her father owned companies all over the United States, Paris, and Japan. Thinking about her father made her mad. They came to Immortal Beach for bonding time, but he wasn't even in town yet.
"Ah, Hasting's kid" John smiled, he knew her father had a confrince with him once, they wanted him as a spokes person. "I know your dad. And I'm John. Last names don't really matter much" He felt a bit rude and stupid for mentioning how he knew her father, maybe that was too much. A lot of people wanted him for something or another and most the people who had met him liked him, he was a very carasmatic person and it was hard to miss that about him.
"Yeah, well I'm sorry about him, he plays dirty when it comes to something he wants. He wasn't always like that though, he used to be kind. My father hasn't been the same since my mother died, he's changed...and not for the best. He's...." Blair trailed off and her eyes widened when she realized what she had just done. She just mentioned her mother to someone...Blair hadn't talked about her mother in years. She blinked rapidly to stop the tears from forming in her eyes.
John felt a sudden wave of worry cross over him as he pretty much stumbled to her since his legs were sleep. "It's okay. Things happen, I doubt she'd be wanting you to cry over her forever, she probably wants you to smile at her memory. I know it hurts now and it will for a long time. Trust me, I know how you feel" He had no idea why he said that at the moment he just couldn't stand to see anyone even slightly unset with him or with anything for that matter.
Blair smiled at his attempt of walking over to her and wiped a tear from her face, "I know, I'm sorry, you're right. I just spent a whole hour listening to my wanna be step-monster talk about wanting to marry my dad. So it hit a nerve...I'm usually not so tearful...and I have no idea why I keep telling you things like this. And I'm sorry you know how I feel, losing someone...is rough. I wouldn't want anyone to go through this."
John smiled sympetheticly to her "Yea, it is. Just takes a while to get back on your feet I'm guessing... Though I'm no where near done with any of that. I figure I'll never get over it, just feels like it's all my fault..." He hated to talk about his brother, the thought that if he just eased the car or didn't turn his head to yell back at him then he'd be a live "So what about you?" he changed not wanting to think more about his brother.
"Umm, I've had a few years to get over the...news...but I haven't. It was my fault that my mother died...I had gotten sick at school. So my mom was coming to pick me up, on her way someone ran a stop sign..." Blair bit her lip, she wished every day that she hadn't gotten sick that day. Her mother would still be alive if she hadn't gotten sick. Blair sighed and gave John a sad smile, "So if you've met my dad, and you're not working with him. He must be hounding you, and trying everything he can to bring you to the dark side?" Blair gave a small laugh trying to change the subject of grief.
John felt the need to hug her but refraid, "Did.... I sorta just 'lost' his number and then 'forgot' my passward to my E-mail and someone 'stole' my phone... no offence to him or anything, although I do admire is persistence" He couldn't take people hounding on him to do things and be places so for a while he would just shut his electricnis for days and just ingore poeple, and calls.
"Well it's too bad someone stole your phone, I was thinking about giving you my number." Blair joked with him, not about giving him her number though. She actually wouldn't mind that, John was easy to talk to. Not to mention easy to look at, Blair blushed at her thoughts, and hoped her wouldn't notice. "Oh and I take no offence, my dad is full on Darth Vader. I avoid him a lot too." Blair ssmiled at John.
"Well it's a good thing I bought a new one then" John smiled at her noticng her blush. She was cute, he hd to admit, and he honestly woudln't mind having her number. It was a shame her mother died though, he found him self stearing at her without meaning to.
Blair noticed John staring at her, so she looked up at him and smiled. "Well my father would be happy about that if he ever found out..." she trailed off giving him a playful look. She timidly held her hand out for his phone to put her number in it. She couldn't help but to blush even more, it was quite embarrassing.
"But....I don't think he should find out. It can be our little secret?" John offered with a smile, everything to him social wise was easy for him. He handed her his phone which was turned off at the moment "wait, just let em turn it on real quick" Pressing a button the phone turned on. "hmm, that's un canny" he mummbled at the fact he had 2,128 new messages around half as many mis calls. He shrugged and gave her the phone anyways. Nothing on the phone would let anyone know it was him, he made sure of that before he got here.
