Womankind Worldwide Book Group discussion

I wanted to make a recommendation to the group. I'm currently reading "The Memory Lingers On" by Roselyn Kachuck. It's a story about a woman's experiences with Alzheimer's and how she "transitions" between realities during the course of her disease. It is a beautiful and poignant story (based on the author's experiences with "Anna" while she was a volunteer in a nursing home). It's just been a really touching story for me to read and I wanted to pass on the info. Unfortunately, the author/book don't seem to be listed here on Goodreads, but you can find it elsewhere.

Alzheimers is a difficult disease. I remember a patient in a hospital I worked at that would come up every few minutes and ask where she was etc... It was sad and frustrating. Her son had actually changed his phone numbers because she was calling him all the time. No matter how much you cared, it did strain your patience greatly

my grandmother has Alzheimer. my grandparents were in love once and got married. you require the patience of a saint to live with a spouse with Alzheimers. living with it is not like it was portrayed in 'the notebook'.

Thanks for the recommendation, Loriann. I'll locate it. My dad suffered a minor form of it after a stroke, and my other-in-law is currently being looked after by nurses in her home due to Alzheimer's. it affects 760,000 people in the UK right now.

I just wanted to put it out there, I have just published my autobiography of abandonment, adoption, and abuse. After 20 years I search for and find my biological family and then life really takes a turn. I think its a great story that needed to be published and I have had some really good reviews. Please check it out.
