When I'm invited to be someone's friend, does that make them my friend too, or do I invite them to be my friend too? I haven't listed any books that I have read, so should I still invite people to be my friend? Hope this makes at least a little bit of sense. LOL

Hi Amy: One invitation works both ways! In our flurry to get everyone located and notified I sent several people friend invitations who also sent me an invitation too, that probably happened to several of us.

Is there any substantive difference between designating someone as a "friend" and not doing so? As more of our old AOL group has reappeared, I certainly consider them friends, but do we need to add everyone as designated "friends?"
On goodreads, you receive updates from your "friends". You can see what they are reading, etc. It is really not necessary to reading and enjoying the group here.
As more of our old AOL group has reappeared, I certainly consider them friends, but do we need to add everyone as designated "friends?" No, Dan. Because, as your friend, I want to keep our relationship more unique and precious. So don't add any more friends.

I'm almost speechless....However, since cats cause 12% of falls caused by pets, I'll weigh the first part of your message against your signature line and call it a wash.
