hmm, I love fiction...I got in trouble at school because my histrical fiction was too fantasy.

okay, I fail at reading non-fiction and i would suck at writing it. I fell asleep 3 times reading a biographhy! On the couch@ at noon with the cutains seethrough!!

Welcome Sybil, glad you've joined us! I find it very motivating knowing that I have to mark my word count each day- makes for a good kick in the pants. I look forward to reading from you.

Yes actually it's about a farm family that is thrust into crisis, leaving the 16 yr old daughter to run it all- with the help of a few neighbor boys. Since I'm on the reservation- some mystic indian lore is woven in there too.

THe first 1000 words on posted under my profile in my writing.- That's probobly all I'll post until it gets published. :)

Nope- not yet, I'm trying to finish the 1st draft and then I need to read the book "Eats, Shoots & Leaves" before I go back over the whole thing again so I can have a better eye for grammer- also at that time I'll give my manuscript to 6-8 friends/editors to request their suggestions/reviews. After all that- after I've gone over it with their input in mind- then I'll look for an agent/publisher. I don't want to submit anything that is less than the best I can do :)

Hopefully I'll finish my draft in the next few weeks, then I can get onto step 2 :)

Sybil- have you surfed around here on WI2009? There are some great people to meet here. THere are a lot of teens and even some pre-teens, but there are real live grown-ups too. Like-
Paul M, Dee Marie, Uniquely Moi, Gwen (Alice's Restaurant), and several more.. um um I can't think- but much of the fun here is popping in to see how they are doing in their own little cubicle of the world. Paul's however isn't a cubicle, it's a tower with a trapdoor and a dungeun way beneath- the stairs are quite a workout. Gwen's place is nice and relaxing with classical music playing (she didn't like my Metalica cd I put on for her- that's why I put it there- to get a rise out of her)
And Dee is buddies with Edward Cullen, he hangs out in her cubi.

When you find yourself needing to take a step back from the writing to work through a moment of writer's block- here's a fun diversion ready made for you.

Paul is gone for the week to Wales in some po-dunk historical hovel with no internet- so he'll answer anything you say next week, but in the mean time you can give us ideas on how to better trash his place!
(we've already done jello in the tubs and let his prisoners out)

You probobly guessed that Mine is Wendy's Farmland. You're welcome anytime- though my place is far less fantastic than Paul's no moats or towers or anything. In fact, it looks a lot like a regular old farm- mine.

I afraid mine sounds more creative than it is- I really do live on a farm and I have kids and I have to pick corn. Sooo- I just wrote my title as my life is- though Paul's has more of an escapist feel to it.

Perhaps your cubi could be in one of those underwater aquarium places where the fish swim over your head and all around you on the other side of a glass tunnel. THose are pretty neat places- ever been to one? I imagine it could be pretty peaceful- or if you had the right music on it could be jammin'. Or maybe you'd rather have a floating city sorta like "Sky High"- that's the fun part of making it up- good creative images.

I my first waitressing job was at a place in Portland OR called I Love Sushi. EVery day at lunch it was like- what are we eating? And they's reply- eat it first and THEN we'll tell you. So as a result, I came to like most everything (except for eel and sea urchin eggs- ick).

I think you're super brave for doing non-fiction. I dare say that I think fiction is easier because what the author says goes.

You should pride every letter, it helps me to think of them as necessary even when sometimes I think I should have/maybe even could have written more.

Sometimes the Muses are kinder than others, but I have realized the great benefits of writing, even if it is only a little, each day.

I haven't been keeping word counts recently, since I'm doing a filmscript, and pages are of more importance.

Full length feature film. This will be the second film script, though there are a couple of TV 2 hour drama things being considered by Channel 4.

Hopefully. I'm just starting the first chapter.

Sometimes you just have to write blind, like I am now. Delving into the deep unknown is perhaps one of the most enjoyable times of writing--I've found. Give yourself some time and you'll get used to the idea of writing fiction, it takes a little while to adjust, believe me.

We got married, had children and bought a farm- on purpose- Yes I'd say that counts. Don't you?

Alas, I married a farm boy who longed for his roots. So as a result I get to pick thousands upon thousands of ears of corn. (I can pick 49 ears a minute if the picking's good)

So I went to college majoring in Spanish, English, & Art so I can pick corn! Yippeeee! *maniacle laughter follows*

Oh, where was I?

Oh, Yes- The joys of farm living. I do like it most of the time. And the kids love the space- if not the weeding.

Having your own personal Corn Maze is a bonus too.

Yes ma'am, my dad followed me around one day talking to me and timed me without me knowing- funny huh.

Art as in Drawing and sculpture- that I have hardly touched since my first child learned to crawl (and therefore get into all my supplies)

And spanish as in I was fluent but may be falling off the wagon a bit from disuse

And english as in I think I deep down, way way way way way way deep down always wanted to be a writer. Ha! finally something I'm using!

And triple Major as in, I am an eternal 2nd semester Junior. Forever stuck a year and a half from graduation. (that would be when my 1st was 7 months old and I discovered I was pregnant again, followed with the 3rd pregnancy seven months after the 2nd was born. (for you math nuts out there, that comes out to 3 babies born within 30 months of each other, in case you were wondering).....(followed by an IUD and planned pregnancy for the last 2)

I always thought that after the kids got older, I'd go back and finish my degrees so that I could be a teacher of those three subjects, but now- I think I'll go back for more fun things, like whatever the heck I want to learn. Maybe I'd continue with the three majors, maybe not.

Don't worry sybil, I'll still write you when I'm famous.
