Evie's death. Did you guys think it was kind of abrupt? I really didn't see why she had to die, like the point behind it. I guess if she would have never died then she would have never had sex, left school causing the ending. What do you think?

It broke my hurt when Evie died. Scarlett kept worrying over Evie's headaches and that was a warning that the doctor's misdiagnosed. Remember she was told she needed glasses. I think Evie died so Scarlett would experience loss. I don't know that was what the author was going for just my opinion.

I didn't get that part either. It was really unnecessary. Did they even say what Evie had? I was confused.

She had to die to be the catalyst for the entire series, to be the reason that Scarlett went off the rails and left, then working out what she wanted.

Mary I think it could have been a good catalyst but am not convinced of the execution....feel the same way about the end of the third book...

i read this book without any high expectations and still did not like it. Felt like a desperate fan fiction of all the recent popular ones... sorry!

I thought it was sloppy writing to force more character development on Scarlett's point...The main outcome is it ruined the best relationship in the entire book (and the series).

They did explain it in the book...she died from a brain bleed (aneurysm).
