Ashley (icecheeseplease) I'm in but I'll leave the deciding to the rest of you since this is not my forte.

message 2: by Tima (new)

Tima Davydov (notoriouslynerdy) I'm definitely excited for the month of May. Just because I've always wanted to give it a try but never found the time, I'd like to read Macbeth, and as for a comedy I'd like to read A Midsummer Night's Dream which I've heard great things about.

I'm throwing my coin in for a comedy, and I don't care which one! :)

I'm in as well, but it's all your choice. Maybe make a poll? Start an elimination process?

message 5: by Rose, Mod (new)

Rose (rtrinh) | 153 comments Mod
Elimination process:

1. Put all the plays in a hat.
2. Shake it up!
3. Pull one out!
4. ????
5. PROFIT!!!

...I'll show myself out now.

@Rose, that definitely could work xDD but @Frank has to take photos! haha

message 7: by Darliza (new)

Darliza (parentheticals) | 92 comments I would love to join this read. I'd vote for a Tragedy! :D

http://shakespeare.mit.edu/works.html

This site has all of Shakespeare's plays in their entirety and groups them by comedy, tragedy, history and poetry.

They can be loaded in one page or by acts.

@Megan, thanks for the link! That helps to those who don't have access to it.

message 10: by Darliza (new)

Darliza (parentheticals) | 92 comments Wow that's a huge poll. I have a suggestion, Frank. Why don't you choose your top 5 picks (with both tragedy and comedy picks) then let the group choose from there? It could provide us with more concrete options. :)

message 11: by Darliza (new)

Darliza (parentheticals) | 92 comments Thanks, Frank! Voted.

@Frank, are you still considering doing two plays for May? One Comedy and One Tragedy? Or are you sticking to one only? If you are considering doing two plays, I suggest posting up the poll for the tragedy plays and perhaps organizing a reading schedule/pre-discussion? I know it's early in the month still though but never too early for it :p

@Frank, I thought that poll was just for the comedies and that the tragedies were going to be a separate poll. Maybe edit the first comment to include a poll link in it?

I only had 9 votes in Fool and went ahead with that, so it doesn't have to be a lot of people if there is interest.

message 14: by Darliza (new)

Darliza (parentheticals) | 92 comments If at least 2-3 people vow to read the book together, I think we can still go ahead and read on.

I second that!

message 16: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 185 comments I put my vote in for Midsummer. I studied some Shakespeare in college, so I want to read one or two I haven't read before, if possible. It seems I have read more tragedies than comedies.

That makes three of us and clearly with the voting results, there are more than a handful curious about doing Shakespeare in May. I've never read A Midsummer's Night Dream but I've heard about it and seen a little bit of adaptions based on it. But it is long enough for discussion for The whole month of May?

One of each sounds actually fantastic. Look at us educating ourselves! Knowledge is power!

You can also find a lot of Shakespeare here on Goodreads! http://www.goodreads.com/ebooks

@Frank, perhaps you can edit your top comment and include the new schedule/poll for more visibility :)

Still interested in Shakespeare-ing from this end!!!! :D

message 23: by David (new)

David Ranney (davidranney) I put in a vote for A Midsummer's Night Dream (after finally discovering the polls).

message 24: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 185 comments I am still interested-- definitely in A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Ashley (icecheeseplease) Matt wrote: "Is there any interest in doing some histories over June? I've been wanting to get into them in chronological order for a while, but it might be so much more fun reading with somebody."

If you would like to get a support group going for June please feel free!
