Mystery/Thriller Reading Friends discussion

Josh Bazell, writing Beat the Reaper, a first book, which immediately made me think of the first works of Charlie Huston or Duane Swierczynski and was their equal in quality.
What we have here is a Hit Man who by the good graces of the witness protection program became a doctor. The story moves around in time and place, but never fails to entertain.

Beat the Reaper A Novel sounds interesting Dave! I am reading a Charlie Huston right now, Every Last Drop. Definitely different and an acquired taste, but I like him. I haven't read Duane Swierczynski. I'll have to check him out.

He's very much like Charlie Huston; they're an acquired taste.

When I ordered a book from Amazon, they made a recommendation that I followed through on. I am reading THE UNQUIET BONES: THE FIRST CHRONICLE OF HUGH de SINGLETON, SURGEON by Melvin R. Starr.



I enjoy medieval mysteries and this one is very good so far. It's by a small press, and I haven't seen it in any of the big stores, but for once Amazon hit the nail on the head with their recommendation.
