Welcome, team members, to the Wild Blue Yonder!
I'll be one of your team captains for this journey, and I look forward to getting to know everyone and discussing books! So sit back and enjoy the fun!
hi :-) I just got an invite to the sister-group and I accepted right away and joined the challenge. I hope I'm not posting in the wrong thread or something... but yeah, I can't wait to get to know you guys and I'm really looking forward to the fun our lovely captains have in store for us :)
Hello Alexa! With the two groups, the threads are a little all over the place. I think we are still figuring out which will be the most active thread. 8)

Greetings Wild Team,
Pull up a chair and get comfy as the pages get flying for our wild ride through many different worlds of story. I am one of the team captains (there are 3 of us). I look forward to getting to know those of you I have yet to meet. Those of you I have already met, I hope to get to know even better.
Everyone in our group is alumni to Round 1 and basically knows how the challenge is played. There are a few minor changes. We have a mixture from round 1. There are 2 from A group, no B's (that must be a good thing, right?), 4 Cs, and 5 Ds. We are a much smaller group from round 1 with 12 members. Now before you freak out there's one group in round 2 that has only 7 people in it. However, they all have high reading goals.
Take a peek around our group and drop a pm to let everyone get to know you. We have a A Wild Blue Welcome Page.
Are ya ready to see the world of books through Blue? I am! Catch ya later after I turn the next page. . .
Alexa wrote: "hi :-) I just got an invite to the sister-group and I accepted right away and joined the challenge. I hope I'm not posting in the wrong thread or something... but yeah, I can't wait to get to know ..."Hi Alexa,
It's good to get to know ya. I was going suggest to set up your bookshelf but you already have and with 3 books added to our count. Yeah team! Go Wild! Go Blue! Go Yonder!
I believe this is going to be the main discussion site. So you hit the mark the first try.
Am setting up a Challenge Within A Challenge and if you enjoy doing the mini challenges if the books you have already read fit the guidelines you can use them.

Hi Erin and Kyle, It's great that you found your way into the Wilds. I think it a good thing that blue is your fav (Kyle) as I think in the coming months we will be seeing a lot of BLUE ;-DEight members have set up their bookshelves so far and hope they are getting settled in. Kat is planning on coming on board after her long work day (double shift).
I'll be around off and on today as I am still doing a some start up stuff. If you have any questions be sure to text it and one of the capt should get back to ya. One of my fav qoutes goes something like this "It is far better to be a fool for 5 minutes to ask a question then to be a fool for the rest of your life for not asking it."
See ya around :D
I originally said that I would read 70 books for this challenge but with much deliberation I've reduce it to 50 books. I hope this doesn't throw us off too much! Sorry ladies, I thought we would tally all the books from this year. Didn't know that we were starting fresh from April.
Welcome everyone! Sashana, I think that will be ok. We'll just let the mods know so that our total numbers are correct on the master spreadsheet for the challenge.Happy reading everyone!

When we have won having read 1350 books before all the other teams.
Does that help? And do we need to adjust your book goal still.
Wow! I noticed that people have already finished books thats awesome! Oh also, do you want us to post what books we are reading or anything?
Erin wrote: "Wow! I noticed that people have already finished books thats awesome! Oh also, do you want us to post what books we are reading or anything?"I love knowing what others are reading, Erin - it's how I get a lot of my TBR pile! Please feel free to chat and post about whatever you like, and include what books you're reading!
I just started
, but I'm not far enough in yet to have an opinion on it. The other books in the series were awesome Urban Fantasy, though, so I'm expecting good things!
Ashley Marie wrote: "Erin wrote: "Wow! I noticed that people have already finished books thats awesome! Oh also, do you want us to post what books we are reading or anything?"I love knowing what others are reading, E..."
Perfect I like to do the same!!
I'm going to start off with
which is a reread from last year since the final book in the series is out now!
That looks really interesting! I love stuff about shifters (the last Mercy Thompson book was soooo good)!
@Ashley and Gwendolyn My goal is to read 70 books for 2013 overall. I've already read around 20 books so far. So from April to December I will probably read around 50 books. I'll leave it up to you two to decide if my tally should be changed. Sorry again for the headache!
Ashley Marie wrote: "That looks really interesting! I love stuff about shifters (the last Mercy Thompson book was soooo good)!"I really enjoy these series! Kelley Armstrong is great at both YA and Adult novels I would definitely recommend trying her out
I just finish rereading Mercy Thompson series 1-6 so I could read for the first time book 7
that was just released. And I love it. The series and the new book. Can't wait till I reread it again. Which should be next year when book 8 comes out :DAs you will likely to find out Kat and I are reading buddies. We got together last Oct and set up a reading schedule so we could finish or catch up on series that we had started or wanted to start.
I am reading one of the series on that list right now for April. It is the Iron Fey by Julie Kagawa. I had read the first two books (so they were rereads) and am now on the 4th and final books of the series.
am also reading the shorts
that goes along with the series. Hope to have my next book done sometime before I go to bed tomorrow. Oh, there's a second series to the Iron Fey that I was going to read the first book but book 2 is going to be out in Oct (I think) and I think I'll wait until then.Next on the list I think I'll read is Soul Screamer series. The final book just came out. And I believe the books will be a quick read--one a day.
I have been reading as many quick reads so I am ahead of my yearly goal in case something comes up and Im not able to read for awhile. PLus, I like being ahead :D I have reached the 1/2 way point (YEAH)
Oh, Ashley Marie, loving shifter books have you read the Shifters series by Rachel Vincent. I enjoyed it. In fact Im in the process of buying the hardcopies.
I 'm going to have to check out Mercy Thompson since you both mentioned it. I've also had the first book in the Iron Fey series on my TBR list for a while, did you enjoy it?Also congrats on reaching the half way mark!

I don't think it's a headache at all. Lots of folks are a bit confuse about the concept. I know that math (and anything looking like math) can make my eyes water. I think one of the Mods changed it already. So we will see what's up.
Great that you read 20 books already :D
Erin wrote: "I 'm going to have to check out Mercy Thompson since you both mentioned it. I've also had the first book in the Iron Fey series on my TBR list for a while, did you enjoy it?"
Very much so. The first three books point of view is from Meghan. The final (4th) book is from Ash's point of view as he tries to make it so they (Meghan and Ash) can be together.
I like the creative concept for the series. We all know that iron is deadly to fey/faeries and this series shows what happens to the world of the fey with the modern world tech (iron).

They both sounds awesome, thanks!
Oh and another perk to the 4th book
is that it is BLUE (mostly dark blues but blue) and can use towards the mini challenge.A couple of the books (2 & 3?) have flying creatures (dragons an such) and can be use towards the mini too.
WBY has 7 books so far. YIPPY. AM Mango Tango has 9 books so far :-O We have to do something about that (Steven) right :D Is there a story there (oh yes, there is)The pink's also have 7 books otherwise everyone else is behind us.
I'm halfway through
and
so I'll most likely have them both finished later tonight or by tomorrow :)I'm going to use
for the blue gone wild, but I'm looking for one to use for the flying high one..-
Is the rest of the series good Gwen? I've only read
and I loved it. I need to pick up the rest of the series =) Let me know what you think of the ending!!
(2)You can add any notes on how good or bad the book/s were, why or any questions about which category you have placed it in, etc. underneath the Bookcovers.
Just a note: This is the format of submitting for the mini challenge. When reply is hit the code for the bookcover is shown and I (or Amanda and AM) can copy and paste into the challenge doc records.
Alexa wrote: "Is the rest of the series good Gwen? I've only read and I loved it. I need to pick up the rest of the series =) Let me know what you think of the ending!! "
Yes, am loving it so far. See post 28. Still have to read the final book (4) and a little more of Legends which is great to go along with the series. Just have to read in order of the series. Winter in between book 1 & 2. Summer in between books 3 & 4 and Iron after book 4.
Erin wrote: "I'm going to start off with which is a reread from last year since the final book in the series is out now!"Have marked the series TBR :D

Awesome! If you find you like it the third book is supposed to bring in characters from her similar series starting with The Summoning. hope you enjoy it!

**waves** Hi, Sashana!
Oh, please do NOT do this. When I changed your goals it was because I thought you were changing your YEARLY goal. If you do this, then everyone will want to do this. I would have to go in and change everybody's goals and percents!
This is perfectly fine, if that is your YEARLY goal and you need to change it due to Real Life; however, if you were adjusting it to fit the remainder of the year this will cause chaos for us.
Could you please change it back? We have adjusted the end date of the challenge to April 11, 2014, to get the right percent of goal...even though we'll be long done by them. Hopefully! LOL!
Thanks!

I chose to do a quick read so I've managed to finish one book so far:
It's one of the better Harlequin books that I've read. I'm currently reading
and
Gwen (is it okay for me to shorten your name?), do you usually wait for a series to be completed before reading them? You seem to be reading them in a straight sitting.

I'll change it back, LK. I was worried that I would be throwing off my group's tally. So I'll change it back to 70 (my yearly goal). I hope I haven't started a rebellion! :)
Alexa wrote: "Sashana, Opal, THAT CRAZY ENDING!!! I loved it! Enjoy :D I can't wait till August for Origin!"
I can't wait to get to the end then! I hope it doesn't make me want to fling the book across the room.
Sashana wrote: "I hope I haven't started a rebellion! :)"
Probably, Sashana, but what is the world without a little anarchy?
Probably, Sashana, but what is the world without a little anarchy?
Good morning Team!
I can already tell this group is going to be pretty rough on my tbr shelf. 8) I just cleaned it out, so I suppose that means there's room for more.
I am reading
by Laird Barron. So far, I'm not so sure I like it much.
Sashana wrote: "Gwen (is it okay for me to shorten your name?), do you usually wait for a series to be completed before reading them? You seem to be reading them in a straight sitting."Everyone shorting my name is OK. I know my name is Loooonnnnng. I do answer to gwen but on GRs people have been using ★g★ and everywheree else I go by gwiz as that has been my online/puter name since the late 90s. So, I'll answer to all of those.
As to waiting to read a series until it is completed. I would say that I like to read a series back-to-back and waiting until it is complete works best. I do read some series more as ongoing series (some you wonder if the series will ever end or hate for it to end) Some of those are like Black Dagger, Step Plum, Mercy Thompson those I enjoy as soon as they are out. What I hate is those pesky chiffhangers and some are worst than others and having to wait years to find out what is happening.
Iron Fey 2 will most likely be 4 books long like Iron Fey 1 but I'll be reading books 1 & 2 when 2 comes out. I also read Jennifer Armentrout's books when they come out. But the last one in the Covenant series "Deity" had a chiffhanger that tick me off (none of her other books had done that) but she redeem herself by having Elixir (a halfstep book-a stort story in between books). Elixir made the wait for Apollyon ok.
So to answer your question Yes and No it just depends. Though when a series has ended I do like to reread the whole thing to see how well the series was written in the foreshadowing and mysteries was handle. Example Harry Potter there's are bits in book 7 that was set up in book 1. But also there were a few minor mistakes too, most being about numbers. Darn that math it gets authors too.
Alexa wrote: "Sashana, Opal, THAT CRAZY ENDING!!! I loved it! Enjoy :D I can't wait till August for Origin!"
Alexa me too! I know Kat cant wait for Origin either. We are both Jennifer Armentrout fans. In fact we met by becoming reading buddies with her books.
Oh, I pick up my Amazon order at the post box yesterday and it had Apollyon. It will have to wait until I'm done with Iron Fey and maybe Soul Screamers. The order had 4 books in it including the 2nd book in the Night Prince series by Jeaniene Frost.
I think I have friended everyone that has come on the discussion. Please could everyone accept so it will make WBY run smoothly and will make our group more cozy. I still have a couple that have yet to show up to ask. I know that Amanda was also thinking about friending everyone too. I think it would be great if everyone was friends with everyone else in the group. I know with round 1 that being friends with everyone else wasn't possible but with the smaller groups I think it should be. And that is one of the benifits to round 2.
