Hello everyone and welcome to the Radical Red Team!
Myself and Michelle are your Captains, and hopefully we'll be leading the team to victory! (And having some fun along the way!)
- - > Having said that, we are both new at this, so please bear with us while we muddle through things!
Once you've been approved for the Sister group you'll be ready to get started!
The first thing you'll need to do is sign up for the challenge! You can do that by clicking the link Radical Red in post 1 (or by clicking here) and popping in your goal and shelf name. Your goal should be the same as the one in the post below, but do let us know if they aren't.
After that you can check in with your bookshelf name here.
You're welcome to use the same shelf as you used in Round I, as long as you enter the date you finish a book, the challenge widget will figure your progress out for you.
Other than that, just come on in and introduce yourself!

We've also started working on a spreadsheet for the team that everyone should be able to view here. There isn't much on it yet, but it'll give us a way to see everyone's progress at a glance.
Reminders- To view/update your books, click here
- The target is to be the first team to read 1350 books
- Any books completed after April 12th will qualify, no matter what date you start the challenge.
- Books need to be over 160 pages (compared to 170 for round I)
How to "Refresh" a Member's Total or Add a Comment to Their "view books" Screen:
We are using ♥Robin♥ on Atomic Tangerine for this example:

• Scroll down to your friends, who are listed first, or down futher to "community."
• Click on either the percent numbers or the words "view books" (red arrow)
• You can enter a comment on this screen (blue arrow), if you desire, or wait for the next one.

• On this screen you can see her total books jumped from 2 to 4.
• If you click on her name (blue arrow), it will hyperlink to her Profile page.
• Pink arrow shows comments by other members.

• If you hit the back arrow to go back to the community page, you'll see she is back to 2 books; just refresh the page.
• The Total goal for all participants may take anywhere from 15 - 30 minutes.
• The cache usually updates every night sometime after 9 p.m. PST.

TEAM UPDATES
If you don't want to go from challenge to challenge but still want to know the other teams' results we set a Teams Sunday Update Summary Spreadsheet - Who is in the lead?
Happy Readings!
Michelle and I have decided it's about time for the first mini challenge, so here goes!Dates: Any book completed between now and the end of April (Anything posted before midday UK time on the 1st of May will count).
Getting into the team spirit
You can earn points for this in one of two ways:
1. Radical Red - Finishing a book with a red cover/red text/or red in the title
2. Team Bonding - Reading a book recommended (rated as 4 or 5 stars) by any other team member
Tips
--> I've pulled a few examples for the team bonding part (see next post) but please feel free to suggest other ideas from your shelves!
--> Other books from the series do count (i.e. If you've already read book 1 which is what was recommended, you could read book 2 or 3 and still count it)
--> Books can count for both parts of the challenge at once!
Oh dear, you can tell I'm tired! I'll update the original post but this mini challenge is running until the end of April.
Anything posted before midday UK time on the 1st of May will count.
Finished
. It has some red on the cover, but I don't know if it has enough to count for the mini challenge.
❉⊰Gayle⊱❉ wrote: "Finished

ladies, I won't be reading much for the rest of this month since I still have some recovering to do. If you want to, please ask for a new team member, I won't mind.

The mods seem awful quiet lately. Do you think they are busy reading?
Find out what they have been up to HERE
@ Suzanne - go for it! I really enjoyed it. Have you seen The Prestige? It reminded me a lot of that.@ Midu - no problem Midu, you concentrate on recovering and just join in as and when you're able :)
TEAM! The mods have announced a Readathon! You can find out more by clicking "Find out what they've been up to here" on message 20.(please note this is optional, so you're not obligated to take part if you don't want. However, you could always set a low goal if you aren't sure!)
Here's a summary of the main points though:
Duration: May 1st - May 11th
Each participant sets a page goal – the total sum of goals from each team member will be the Team's Page Goal.
Points for:
*1 point per member reaching goal
*20 points if 50% of the team members reach page goal
*30 points if team goal is reached
*50 points if all the team members reach page goal
◈ Each team should choose a theme for the read-a-thon and read at least one book representing that theme.
*1 point per book read
*30 points if 50% of team members read a book representing the theme
*50 points if all the team members read a book representing the theme
◈ Each of them should read a book with a cover representing the color of the team.
*1 point per book read
*30 points if 50% of team members read a book with the team color
*50 points if all the team members read a book with the team color
◈ An extra 5 points if all the team members participate in the read-a-thon.
◈ Keep us updated on your progress! Every few hours (as long as it doesn't interfere with your reading), post a status update on how the reading is going. You might want to set up a “rally” of who will track which hours.
◈ Mini-Challenges & Games - As done on the previous read-a-thons we'll come out with some fun stuff to shoot the breeze. An extra 5 points can be earned by suggesting a mini-challenge & game
◈ At the end of the Read-a-Thon event post your final results on the thread, as well as the books read during that time.
◈ The winner of the Read-a-Thon will be the team with more points achieved and will receive a 4 book advantage on the team's total
So to summarise in miniature here's what we need to:
- Come up with a page goal each
- Remember to read one book each with a red cover
- Come up with a team "theme"
Bonus:
- Our team can earn 5 points for suggesting a mini challenge or game!
If we win, we get an additional 4 books added to our current progress!

READ-A-THON UPDATES:
*Page Goal
Mininum page goal: 600 pages - average of 50 pages a day
*Goal Posting
By team captains on RaT page thread. Tell us the name of participants and their page goal.
*Mini-Challenges
The team Captains must send them by PM to the mod account or to Sonia with the subject: "RaT Mini-Challenge"
*End Date:
Updated to May 12th (Sunday)
Finished
. Very good! No red on this cover, but I did find an alternate cover with red
in the author's name.
READ-A-THON UPDATES
There are some misunderstanding about ALL the team members needed to participate to get points.
Well, they DON'T
If a team has 12 members and only 4 want to participate, that team can still earn all the points available.
We'll consider that team a team of FOUR elements to the Read-a-Thon only.

Midi...I hope your recovery goes well. Put on the headphones and listen to audiobooks to while away the time.
I finished
and really enjoyed it. Nice blend of mystery and paranormal light as it deals with only ghosts. Now on to one of my group reads
which started out boring but is starting to pick up. (does this count as having red in the cover, I very doubtful LOL)I'm also reading a humongous book
which is really good but also over 1000 pages.
Joyce - that copy doesn't, but this version does so go ahead and claim it as a red entry ;)
The other thing is, I'm afraid the minimum page goal for the readathon is 600 pages (unless your overall goal is 50 books or less) so would you mind if we set you at a goal of 600?
Current readathon participants and goals
Sandy: 825 pages
Faith: 1200 pages
Joyce: 600 pages
❉⊰Gayle⊱❉: 600 pages
Amy: 825 pages
Midu: 600 pages
Jennifer: 600 pages
Karrie: 600 pages
Michelle: 1200 pages
Team total: 7050
If you want to sign up but aren't sure how much you can commit to, go ahead and put down the minimum - you can change your goal up until the 8th of May if you find yourself getting ahead!
We also need to come up with a team theme & a mini-challenge idea, anyone got any ideas?!The mini-challenge needs to be something that doesn't involve extra reading, so a Q&A or a cover search or something - if you have any suggestions for this bit, please PM me or Michelle (so the other teams can't steal our idea ;)
For the theme, the only thing I've really come up with so far is tying it to a genre everyone's keen on reading i.e. romance or ya. Feel free to bombard us with ideas!
That's great thanks Amy.I can see 4 books for you at the moment,
(
)Does that sound right?
They've all gone through fine, and I can see them on your personal challenge, it just takes a while for the team total to update. If they still haven't popped up in an hour, I'll chase it up :)
