Wish I could be here with my awesome friend Kim! Kick Butt, except for my team. :D Wish we would have had room for you there, we could kick butt together. :)
Well, I would say, if we find a replacement player for you, Brooke, we can swap you to this one. However, Kim may be replacing another player on another Team.
Oh, don't go through any troubles. Whatever works out best for however you all do it, is fine with me. It's gotta be craziness. So much going on here, I'm still looking around. I just know Kim is a great asset!
Hi, Kim. I hope you are not too bored here by yourself. I have come to help your team out and I hear we may be getting new players soon. Do you have questions so far? I will be helping set up some things for you as well.
Important Information
Spreadsheets
Forest Green Team spreadsheet This team's information on books read and challenges
Team Assignment Spreadsheet You can see all the teams and their members on this spreadsheet. This also has a link to everyone's challenge pages if you want to see what others are reading. Some members, which are highlighted, have private profiles and are only able to be seen by friends.
Sunday Update Spreadsheet Every Sunday evening you can see the team standings on this spreadsheet.
Threads
Page Numbers Thread If your book doesn't have page numbers listed or it is an ebook and you are not sure of how many pages, you can post it here. I can also post it for you if you prefer.
Forest Green Folder
In the Folder are these threads:(Points for Pages is the only one currently running in July, all others will start in August and continue from there)
List of Team Challenges This is a list of all the team challenges and their rules. It contains links to the actual threads for the challenges.
August Trivial Pursuit This is the thread for our main August challenge 'sponsored' by the mods. Please feel free to post which categories your books fit into here.
Points for Pages This is the thread for the ongoing monthly minichallenge for points depending on the length of your books. Values change every month.
Forest Green Cover Color Wars This is an ongoing monthly minichallenge I added for the fun of it where two colors will get chosen each month to see which color is read more that month.
FG Monthly Minichallenges This is a random team minichallenge for each month.
awesome thanks for the help setting things up! I'm in the process of moving to a new home so the sad sad loneliness hasn't affected me too much yet lol :-)
Would you like to participate in the 7% Solution Challenge if more members join in time? I could find out which teams would be ahead and behind for the cover color parts. Even if only you are participating, at the rate you read, it looks like you could earn a book advantage point yourself by completing at least three of the categories. You are well on your way already with 13 books for June.
thanks on the congrats! I tried figuring out what the 7% thing was but every time I'd look for an explanation it was on my phone and the good reads app sinks. keep forgetting to try it on the computer
Here is a simplified breakdown of the seven different categories. I wouldn't worry about looking at a category and trying to find a book that fits, just read whatever you want and you can probably find a category it will fit into.Category 1 Behind Enemy Lines: your team reads 7 books that are already on the shelves of members of opposing teams. I can help a little with this by looking up a book you read on my team's secret spreadsheet page, I don't think they will mind too much, we are almost done with the challenge.
Category 2 Color Ahead: your team reads 7 books that have the cover color of the team ahead of you in the standings
Category 3 Color Behind: your team reads 7 books that have the cover color of the team behind you in the standings
Category 4 BOM/BR: your team reads 7 Books of the Month or Buddy Read from the NBRC group and participates in the discussions (more than just a few word comments on how you like the book)
Category 5 Spell Out: your teams reads 7 books that help spell out NBRC TOWER TEAM READING CHALLENGES, but each letter can only be used as many times as it is in the phrase
Category 6 May RaT themes: your team reads 7 books that have covers relating to challenges from the May Read-a-Thon(I can describe in detail what needs to be on the cover, but this is just to give you a basic idea of the challenge) or books that spell out ANY ROSE, or any combination of these things
Category 7 Seven: your team reads 7 books that relates to the number 7 by letters in the author's name, words in title/author/series, published in July, 7th in series, spells out SEVEN UP, or a combination of these things
A category may be repeated twice to replace a category you don't want to complete, for example, you probably don't want to have to do category 4 by yourself, but you could replace it by doing category 6 again(two times total). Category 5 is an exception which you can repeat 3 times.
It is possible for one person to complete the whole challenge themselves if they can read 49 books in 49 days, but not many of us can read that fast. You could already have almost 2 categories completed if every book you have read fits into the right two categories. It only takes 21 books in 3 categories to earn 1 Book Advantage Point(BAP).
I think I may join you for the 7%, Viscountess Viridian. My Team didn't use my books, so I'm good to go.
awesome, thanks for the simple breakdown. I think I;m interested! i need to make a list of all the books ive read and compare to the categories to see which ones i might have already taken care of, and see what I should read next:) who keeps track? do we keep track ourselves?
Kim wrote: "awesome, thanks for the simple breakdown. Then I can post the completed category in the challenge thread for the mods to confirm. I will be making a spreadsheet to help keep track because we can rearrange books in the different categories if they fit more than one until we submit a completed category. After a category is completed and confirmed, those books can not be changed.
Any of your books finished on or after June 1st count and I counted 13 of them when I looked at your shelf. You will probably find that most of them could fit in more than one category(usually using the spell out options)
You can post a list here of the ones you already have read and which category you want to use, and I can help you if you are not sure whether it fits a certain category. When you finish a new book just do the same, post it here with which category it is for.
I am finding out what colors for the covers since the team did not exist before June to use the last Sunday update as a guide.
Well, it looks like blue covers are really in this season.Color Ahead team: Pewter Blue
Color Behind team: Wild Blue Yonder
I see lots of lovely shades of blue in the future. I need it too. We just had a huge storm where I live and a very, very rare small tornado touched down and damaged a few businesses and one house. No one was hurt but it has sure caused lots of amazement and talk around town.
Welcome, Kim & Viscountess Viridian! I had to google to find out the meaning of Viridian though. And I love the door color!
Hi, everyone! I'm glad to be a part of Team Forest Green. Question on 7% challenge - the books that I read that were used for Cadet Blue/Pewter Blue cannot be used for Forest Green, right?

Correct. They cannot. Welcome, Jackie!
Correct. They cannot. Welcome, Jackie!
Welcome, Jackie! There is still plenty of time in the challenge. I'm sure you will be reading more that this team may use towards it. Is there anything you would like to try to do as part of this team? Do you want mini-challenges just for the team? I am here to help. I am the captain for right now and willing to try to set up whatever you want to try out. There are a couple of teams setting up games in the coming months that they are also inviting other teams to participate in. More info to come.
FYI: I am on the west coast of USA in PDT time zone. I work Tues-Sat so I do most of my posting in the evenings on those days but I do check in during the day. My computer is online almost all day on Sun/Mon, but I have to refresh the screen to see new messages so sometimes it takes a little bit to respond to something. I do a lot of my reading on those days.

Personally, I like mini-challenges and games for motivation so I'm willing to participate in any that the team wants to try. Let me know if I can help in any way. Did I understand correctly that we should post finished books that could work for the 7% challenge in this thread?
Hello new team!My name is Captain Cupcake and I'm here to invite you to check out my little world of puzzles and cupcakes. Just come to Captain Cupcake’s hideout and have some fun.
When you want to take a break from reading, solve few puzzles and earn cupcakes. One day you'll be able to exchange those cupcakes for books. ☺
There are different puzzles that will earn you different cupcakes. I won't go into details now (it will probably only confuse you ☺). Check it out and if you have any questions, feel free to ask.
