Metzer is pretty good, but sometimes can be formulaic. His books are usually quick reads though and pretty suspenseful. I'd give the Inner Circle 3 of 5 stars.

I really enjoyed this mystery set in 17th century Potosi when it was the main mint for the Spanish empire.City of Silver: A Mysteryby Annamaria Alfieri (4 out of 5 stars)
#3Region: Europe
Country: Northern Ireland
After the death an problems from two books set in Latin America, it was nice to escape. An Irish Country Village by Patrick Taylor. (4 out of 5 stars)
#4Region: Latin America
Country: Brazil
Blood of the Wicked Enjoyed this mystery set in Brazil as it sheds some light on the land ownership issues they are facing.(3 out of 5 stars)
#5Region: Europe
Country: Spain
The Fencing Masterby Arturo Perez-Reverte
A quick read with more information that most would want on fencing techniques.
#6Region: Asia
Country: India
Behind the Beautiful Forevers: Life, Death, and Hope in a Mumbai Undercity by Katherine Boo.
#7Region: Europe
Country: England
The Yard
Really enjoyed this mystery set in the early days of Scotland Yard.
#8Region: Middle East
Country: Turkey
The Sheen on the Silk: A Novel by Anne Perry. I enjoyed this book, but not as much as some of her other mysteries. This appeared to take on a lot, but it was interesting to learn about Constantinople in the thirteenth century.
#9Region: Africa
Country: Botswana
The Miracle at Speedy Motors by Alexander McCall Smith. Anther really enjoyable and relaxing tale, with everyday problems handled wisely. At one point the author describes the characters eating bugs that taste like peanut butter. I wonder if there are such things?
#10Region: Middle East
Country: Iran
Equal of the Sun by Anita Amirrezvani. I really enjoyed this story set in the Safavid Empire during the 16th century. It was a nice change of pace from the multitude of European historical novels that are available.
#11Region: Europe
Country: Italy
A Question of Belief by Donna Leon. Another reliably well-crafted story about Commissario Brunetti.
#12Region: Europe
Country: France
Murder in Passy by Cara Black. This is the second book I've read from the Aimee Leduc series and have enjoyed them both. She is supposed to be an investigator that specializes in computer crimes, but they always seem to get involved in murder.
#14 Region: North AmericaCountry: Canada
A Trick of the Light by Louise Penny. If you like mysteries, try one of Penny's books featuring Chief Inspector Gamache.
#15Region: Asia
Country: Mongolia
The Secret History of the Mongol Queens: How the Daughters of Genghis Khan Rescued His Empire by Jack Weatherford. This non-fiction book is about the Mongol Empire, not just its Queens. It is very readable, although it bogs down a bit at times with a lot of minutiae about the genealogy of the Mongol rulers. (3 out of 5 stars)
#16Region: Asia
Country: Tibet
Water Touching Stone
I had a hard time with this book because it contained a lot of reference that were hard to follow and the overall plot arc was pretty depressing. (2 out of 5 stars)
#17Region: Africa
Country: Guinea
The King of Kahel I found the book slow to start and I was put off by the language, but as I read further I found myself drawn into the story about based on the true adventures of Olivier de Sanderval.
(3 out of 5 stars)
#18Region: Asia
Country: Laos
The Coroner's Lunch
This is my new favorite. If I wasn't set on meeting my around the world goal I would stop and read more of this series. I will come back to this for more. (5 out of 5 stars)
#1B (Takes place in country I have already read)Region: North America
Country: United States
Three Junes
This was an interesting book about two generations of a family. It begins in Greece and then moves to Scotland, but it felt like most of it took place in New York (either Manhattan or Long Island). (3 out of 5 stars)
#19Region: Middle East
Country: Israel
The Saturday Morning Murder: Psychoanalytic Case, A
Interesting book, but the style was too dry for me.It was very much a procedural. (3 out of 5 stars)
#20Region: Africa
Country: Egypt
Cleopatra: A Life
This was a very readable biography, and I enjoyed the way the author included a short analysis of some of the historical opinions. (4 out of 5 stars)
#21Region: Europe
Country: Norway
Broken by Karin Fossum
I really enjoyed the beginning of this book. The premise of an author's characters speaking directly to her intrigued me, but after awhile I got frustrated with the lack of spine that the main character showed. (3 out of 5 stars)
#22Region: Europe
Country: Scotland
The Shadowy Horses by Susanna Kearsley
This was okay. After the tension in The Light Between the Oceans, this felt too light. Everything works out well in the end, there was no real suspense during the book.
(3 out of 5 stars)
#23Region: Oceania/Australia
Country: Australia
The Light Between Oceans by M.L. Stedman
This was a tough book to get through (bad things happening to everyone), but it is one that makes you think. (4 out of 5 stars)
#24Region: Latin America
Country: Uruguay
The Uruguay Amethyst
The author has an interesting gimmick (all books have a gemstone theme), but I don't think I could take another. I think the main character was supposed to be spunky and fun, but I found her hard to take. (2 out of 5 stars)

Country: Greece
The Messenger of Athens by Anne Zouroudi
3 out of 5 stars
This is not a light-hearted romp through the Greece that tourists imagine. The action takes place on a poor island, where conditions are tough.
#26Region: Caribbean
Territory: Puerto Rico by Rick Murcer
2 out of 5 stars.
What can I say, it added another territory to my list, but that was about all that it has to recommend it.
#29Region: Europe
Country: Russia
by Boris Akunin3 out of 5 stars. I found this book difficult to follow due to the many Russian names and their diminutives.
#30Region: Latin America
Country: Cuba
by Christina Garcia3 out of 5 stars
I was more interested than I expected to be in the fictional life of Fidel Castro and the life on an 80-some Cuban expatriate living in Miami.
#31Region: Middle East
Country: Iraq
by Agatha Christie4 out of 5 stars
Really enjoyed this one, especially since it was written in 1951, how the Cold War was portrayed.
#33Region: Latin America
Country: Peru

I enjoyed the combination of travel narrative and history in this book.
