I would love to know what others thought of this book, as I still think of it as one of my favourite reads I have ever done. I would love to find other books like this but i think elizabeth haynes is in her own altogether?

I love Haynes! I just finished this a few days ago. I adored the way the main character was a single woman, slightly over weight and yet she didn't have to fall in love with anyone to round out the plot! Loved the CRAZY story but did find the power that the yer' man could yield was a little beyond believable and the fact that the main lady fell under his spell as well... t'was all just a little too neat! All in though... I LOVED IT.
I loved this book. I totally agree that it was refreshing to have NO love story - just an interesting insight into unconventional characters who manage to unravel a murder mystery in a realistic manner. Okay so the main character's lack of confidence and communication was frustrating at times but this only added to the realism.I also loved Into the Darkest Corner but this is a completely different style of book. Looking forward to reading Dark Tide which I understand is totally different again - has anyone read it?
No I haven't read Dark Tide but it's on my list. I also loved the main character's odd relationships with her co-workers.
I read her second book when it when it was named the Revenge of the Tide. Another strong book with colourful, strong characters. It is set around the Medway Towns in England where I live so could picture every location perfectly
