If you are at all big on adventure I recommend reading W.A. Hoffman's Raised by Wolves series. They are:

Raised by Wolves: Brethren (book 1)
Raised by Wolves: Matelots (book 2)
Raised by Wolves: Treasure (book 3)

They are lengthy, but extremely well written. I say this to everyone even at the sake of looking like an idiot myself - I am a horror fan so a book with Raised by Wolves as the title had a whole different connotation for me. Books I thought were going to be about werewolves ended up being about pirates. The historical accuracy is refreshing and educational. I learned a great deal while enjoying the characters. Give it try. If you love it like me then you can wait with me for 4th nove; Raised by Wolves: Wolves which was supposed to be out already but the author has fallen behind so we wait anxiously.

I got to thinking about it and if you are a big ol' softy who likes a good relationship story no matter how unbelievably perfect it works out I suggest you read the COMMON THREADS series by Ronald Donaghe. They are:
Common Sons
The Blind Season
The Salvation Mongers
The Gathering

You won't be disappointed
